Good looking mods with the updated headlight and front fender. Not a big fan of the mx fender, too rounded and shovel looking.

Love these valve tappet covers. Who makes them?

The tappet covers are built by inmate Cycle Wizard.

stuff:

well dudes need some help.

1. Cleaned carb and took the chance to put in a 60 pilot jet at 2.5 turns out as I had a 62 in there and it was still blipping a little black crap every once in a while and figured since the car came with a 60 on y bike might as well do this...well bike started and restarted just fine and around the block feels the same so Ill leave it.

2. I re-installed my now clean IMS 4 gal tank and I can now say I hate this tank..I tried making a mount extension so the right side is higher than the left so it wont be so damn close to the head and boil my gas...well nothing worked except a 1/4 inch spacer I out to space out the right lobe a bit.

It just seems like this tank is not symmetrical, its tilted to the right and it drives me nuts!

3. when cleaning the carb I noticed it was spotless and I had already installed the new float valve and it was spotless...in any case I cleaned this area and also the acv valve and ports. I also installed a clear inline fuel filter, that now is positioned correctly as my old shock reservoir was in the way before.

4. The last issue is and reason for this post is I dont have any explanation for the HOBBY HORSING and seemingly bad fuel creating the stop and go electrical gremlin like bad running I talked about a few pages back on my last posts...

sooo?

is it simply overheating cause of this stupid IMS, vapor lock? I am running out of ideas somewhat.

I guess I can try running the bike again in similar conditions but thats risky.

Oh my revalved XRL shock feels a million times DIFFERENT its so stiff and firm feeling mostly on compression damping...

my old shock pogoed so much I thought it was normal...

only issue is I have slight rubbing on the front of the airbox where the spring hits ever so slightly on compression, got to figure something out try to move the airbox back a bit or something

anywhoo

on to my next post!

thanks

Revalved shock settings?

Hey guys...another post here:

For those of you with revalved shocks...do you not mess with the settings and leave it be for the most part or do you tune a bit?

obviously race sag is a must but anything else?

LOVE MY NEW XRL SHOCK BTW it is solid firm and prett damn good feeling, just around the block on some hardpack the bike felt pretty planted although I could spin the tire at ease now where before it used to wallow around and sort fo grab...

cant wait to really try it out but need to figure out my other issues before doing so

anyways

any input welcome

as usual thanks guys!

christian

p.s. couple pics of the install and a side by side showing the mega difference in size of the shocks! part of the reason I wanted to do this mod!

when you went thru the carb did you use pressurized air on ALL of the ports?..if not id be willing to bet youve still got something stuck...any chance the secondary carb isnt getting enuf fuel IE slightly too low float setting, something obstucting the fuel line between the carbs(that was my problem)

naaaah!

the bike runs awesome! ITS when it gets hot(im assuming?) and on really rocky terrain or stop and go crap that it does this

I also took the chance to reinstall my anti-slosh baffle on the main jet tower...maybe thats it? too much fuel sloshing around?

Checked float level its perfect at 15mm and the float valve is new

I really think it has something to do with boiling gas or something related to heat in slow going?

anybody else got some ideas?

it ran awesome just a while ago after putting everything back together..so what is it?

I

Anybody running an XR650R hybrid shock on their XR600/650L? Javier (trailtricks) told me it's the hot setup on these bikes.

What's this setup about? What kind of hybrid?

eletrical load question...

Currently, my 86 has a Acerbis aftermarket head light with a switch. The back of it says "Stanley 12V 55W," and it runs that and a brakelight/taillight without much issue; the light only fades if I the break light is on.

I recently acquired a BD Lapaz 8" light. It too is 55W. Would you guys recommend an upgrade to a 200W ricky stator, or stick with the stock stator since the current light is already 55W? The extra $130.00 is not an issue, but wondering if it is an unnecessary investment (though, my last XR6 has a stator poop out, so sure this one will...someday).

The OE stator only has to power the OE 35 watt headlight and tail light. Now you have a 55 watt. I would get the Rickey Stator. Oh wait. I already have one...

get one shelf it and run yours till it dies..unless you KNOW its the oem stator(as in your the original owner)..you would never know if it was a re-wind..so run it till it dies

From what Javier told me, sounds sort of like how you can use a CR500 shock on an XR650R, reusing the XR650R shock shaft and clevis. Which would be really convenient, because I've got an extra XR650R shock laying around since I did the CR500 upgrade on my XR650R. Really don't know anything more than that it's possible, since Javier told me he's done a bunch of them.

Hey guys Im pretty sure this will only work for the xr650r thats the bike its a popular mod for,

it wont fit on the xr600

I searched quite a while finding info on this shock and both the cr500 and xr650r shocks are wider and longer than the xr600/650l

but maybe I missed something

p.s. would be cool if a hybrid can be made for our bikes, for now im stoked with my shock!
