Hi JAB,

I got your PM, thanks, so you are looking good.

There are two stoves, which one do you want and then I will have the other one to send to Trl Rdr.

Also what is your zip code for working out the postage cost ? PM me that if you like rather than on this thread.

Like GM mentioned, the '81-'82 XR500Rs had a reed valve assembly whereas the XL500R did not. (In fact, none of the prior XL or XR500s had the reed---only the '81-'82 XR500R.) Consequently, all things being equal, the XL head will make more power. The XR head with the reed suffers on top end power.
I have thought for a while that the reed heads might make a good foundation for experimenting with custom port inserts. I don't know what the inside of the port looks like without a reed cage, though.

Bummer I wasn't around a computer when the stoves went up for dibs. Been looking for something smaller to replace my Gaz Twister 270 for a while. Oh well, if I switched brands, I would have to do something with the pile of full Gaz canisters I have.

hey useless post I know...

Just saw charlie boorman and the BMW space suit crowd pass by...about 200+ bikes all spaced out looking like neil armstrong following one of the guys in that famous bmw movie.

sorry for the rant, I just think that BMW(not only them others too!) has taken so much OUT of motorcycling, making it a cow follow cow movement...

Really you need a space suit to go to the coffee shop?

You really need 6 boxes on a bike to go for a little ride?

Do you have to follow what the "leader" says.

Anywhoo rant over...

boorman was on the news and whatnot and I just dont get it...

I guess Im a simplist at heart.

cheers

flame on fellows...Im a little down lately jajaja

Keep your chin up Christian. That way someone will have a great target.

Just kidding. Some parts for your CRF fork conversion are starting to arrive. I went to the post office today and picked up the front axle and slider guards. The wheel is due here this afternoon. The seller took two weeks to mail it. Mailed yesterday at Walnut Creek which is about 30 minutes away from me. Go figure. I haven't heard back from Jeremy about turning the steering stem down.

Ladies and Gentelmen...XR600R fans...

Here's my latest offering.
Winter time in 93. The SDA picks a trail on the map we've never been on before. It's short, (ridgetop to river), but the prime high country is snowed in. This trail is legal for motorcycles, but you'd be hard pressed to prove that there's ever been one riding on it! It's un used!

Our adventure included a good 3-4 hours exploring American Bar on the middle fork of the American River.
Fun, games, even cooked lunch on on a stove.

The SDA didn't film on the way down. On the way up the fisrt thing you have to do is a magic embankment climb off the cobblestone bar, and onto the trail.
With my 1 year old XR600R I flew up the whole trail and made every switchback with a YEEEHa...
But at the top, those guys never showed up!
This is the 1st ride where I packed my block and tackle in the backpack...
And we needed it.

This is another epic in the adventures of the SDA. They are not all dustless easy going great ride days.
Sometimes you don't get over 15 miles.

Staring Brian on my old 500, AKA MR Freeze
Jon Beile on his 88 600r, You know Scratch Beetle?
And yours truely 2manyrides 92 XR600R
