it has really good compression now. i can stand on the kicker.
i just hope nothing starts leaking oil . i used that honda bond until the tube busted at the bottom, and then i still used it. oh well , it was only $10 on ebay. ill jsut have to order some more.

i didnt ride it yet, because its 2 30 am, and i dont want to wake up the neighbors and cops :P
first think tomoro morning, im going riding!!!!!!!
how many miles should i put on it before i change the oil again? i know theres some debri in there.
50? 100 miles?
its good to let the bond sit for a while if you did use it on your gaskets

so tomorrow or next start it up

vary throttle, use most of the throttle and use compression braking on nice downhills

use nice roll ons

change oil after 25 miles, then again at 200miles or so

filter once or twice whatever

use cheap thin oil the first few times then your standard weight and grade

I use 15/40 dino with stp

I also pour stp now on the cam after each open up

cheers

P.S. do not baby the engine or leave it idle under any circumstance...ok? jajajajaja

its not so much a joke man its just that well new hotcams cost like 100bucks, they are chinese pot metal

new is iffy(however they have some good reviews power and performance wise) but there are just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY stories of how they fail

it could be bad break in by the owner

or using a new cam in a very used valve train etc..

but only a little reading here and there will show you a gaziliion cases of failure

having said this many very good and smart people here have installed them and had no failures so maybe ut speaks more about the rider/mechanic than the actual quality of the cam

buying a used hotcam and rocker set is ok I guess, just giving you hell

let us know how it goes!

Depends on how much exercise you want between now, and when it quits starting at all.

Yeah, but I bet the people who wrecked a hotcam would wreck any other cam aswell.

no man

hate to say it but no

some guys have done the dumb thing and use the oem specs for valve lash on the hotcam making it grind itself to death

it goes deeper than user error

just passing on the info

not trying to bum you out man

plenty of info and data about this stuff here and elsewhere

plus its not like by riding hard you are going to grind a cam to death

that happens from low oil or dissimilar metal surfaces etc...

or a bad oil pump

or bad valves lash

not cause your giving the bike hell man

anywhoo

Congratulations kirbi. That's a great feeling when it all comes together right, isn't it.
