funny thing about weights is you always want less

I had a 420lb klr before and now 300lbs feels heavy as hell...then 200lb will feel porky...

never ends
NEVER get on a trials bike! You will be ruined forever!

Ya, you want to see lots of dirt road, but some of the horizon too. Can't tell ya how many failed attempts I had!

Sounds like the bike's running flawlessly though...

Anyone know this guy away from this site? http://www.advrider.com/forums/member.php?u=227478 (nonfat water7)

Have circumstances risen that this person can't reply to emails or PM's? I've paid for and am waiting for some parts to arrive....

I know there are members here that have purchased and received parts from him before I sent funds for mine and I don't wanna jump to conclusions...

Thanks, SttG

Question Power up - Bang for Buck?

What is the best power up options for a xr 600?
I now have a mikuni pumper, KN filter and aftermarket exhaust with stock headers.

What is the best next step?

Cam?
Overbore (628 or 654)?
Headers?

I am more interested in even more torque, more than a few more extra ponys on top. Could I for example go with a stock cam (read a lot about hotcams breaking down) with a 654cc?

....Or isn't any of this worth doing? Should I just go with the big brother xr650r instead?

USD forks conversion

I'm beginning my search for an USD front end. What is the easier / better conversion? CR125 / 250 front end or a CRF450R (heck, maybe they are the same, not sure)? I'm going to post a want ad on the local CL looking for bikes being parted out and I want to be sure to get the right stuff.

Big kudo's to Jeremy (beechum1) !

It took a while, but I got my CR steering stem back from The US, machined and well, ready for a complete CR250 USD swap.

Thanks for everything bud !!

It's nice when people help each other out

The conversion will have to wait though, due to circumstances

As far as I know the CR and CRF triple trees are exactly the same (someone please correct me on this if not ! )
You can either have the CR/CRF stem machined to accept XR steering bearings, or you can order a conversion stem and have it pressed into the lower triple
( http://www.emigracing.com/CRX46.htm )

Lots of guys here have done the conversion and can tell you more about it than I can

cr250r/x forks are easy as heck ask steve...

my thread is called

"aaaaaan one more xr600 usd swap"

all the info and pics are there}

its really easy you can either machione the cr stem or make bushings for the xr stem as the cr clamps are bigger, you can press off your bearings or use new bearings

then some other stuff like wheels, caliper mounting etc...

many have done some lately

good luck

Here's mine shaft, damage is not so visible, but I've bought an PBR NX650 15 tooth sprocket. It's 1mm wider
then the 14 I bought the bike with. As I'm running a 100mm NX piston, now the bike feels much stronger then
with 14 tooth, guess the stock gearing was too short (lifted the front wheal in 4th gear).

Evening ride

Went for an evening solo ride with the thumper:

So far so good:

One thing about riding in the middle of nowhere is that it is very easy to find a decent parking space, really no problem at all:

Managed to pull her out after a couple of well chosen not so very nice words In some situations the thumper feels light, in others not..

Any idea why my bud's 600 is leaking oil out of the bottom of the steel(?) oil line that goes up to the head? It has a banjo bolt that goes into the right side case. Oil comes out between the line and the case when the bike is on. Could the line be plugged?
