Call all XR600R!!! - Page 8

I loaned out my xr600 to a riding buddy who was without a bike for the weekend. I rode my KTM520 EXC all day. For $hits and giggles, I offered for my buddy to give the KTM a try. When he accepted, I hopped back on the XR600 and was AMAZED!

The Honda's seat felt like it was 2 feet wide and 8 inches thick. After a full day of being sodomized by that slab that the Austrians call a seat, I didn't want to switch back to the KTM.

Unfortunately, besides the (comparatively) comfy seat, I also noticed that I felt like I was stooped over like cro-magnon man. I swear the handle bars are 4 inches lower than the orange bike... hence my earlier posts about raising the bars.

Like the rest of you, I love the XR600. My only wish is for higher bars (soon to be fixed thanks to you guys -thanks for the suggestions) and the magic button. I'm not as lucky as most of you... my bike sits for extended periods between rides (once a month if I'm lucky) and usually takes 30 kicks or so to get it started. After that, it usually starts by the 3rd or 4th kick throughout the rest of the weekend.

Still needing a XR600R regulator for my 86'.

The PO before me took it out for whatever reason....

Been running without it since (really need the headlight back on since I got the Street legal title for it

) I bought it in 2004.

Question:

Will a Regulator (AC) from a 1983 XR500R work with my 86' XR600R??

Need to know by tomorrow, or he might sell it to someone else that's looking.....

I bought this bike used from the local dealer, sold it, then bought it back and added the Baja kit and licensed it. We're still getting to know each other.

This is probably the wrong place to ask, BUT hey it is an XR600 thread.

I have the stock tank for my 1997 XR600R and the 6 gallon Acerbis tank. I am looking for something in the middle.

Does anyone have one of the 4 gallon tanks that would like to trade for a stock tank and maybe a little extra ? It has really yucky Decals on it and everything.

I had one a year ago and sold it. I am a FOOL.

Used 600 tanks pop up on eBay every once in a while. I got an IMS 4.3 or 4.7 for $75 shipped. No yucky decals or anything. I will say that it's a poorly designed tank with no crossover tube that traps about 1.5 gallons on the right side plus the front lobes are much lower than the petcock trapping about .75 gallons between the two sides. The engineers who designed this tank were clearly high. Whatever. For $75 the price was right.

That being said, I have also have an Acerbis 5.8 (new in plastic, it's too pretty to stick on the bike), that IMS POS, and two stock tanks. I also have two bikes so I can mix and match like Fashion Plate Barbie depending on my mood.

Both heads are XR's Only but the fattie finned one has titanium hoo-haas, stainless steel hrumdingers, an awesome port job, and an infusion of bling that the other head can only dream of.

Nice score! Are the exhaust ports polished also? I like the pic that shows both intakes, sort of a study of before and after porting. Now that you've got the "Big Fin" head let the big bore begin.

Anyone know if the newer heads (single carb) would work on the 86' XR??
