My ride report doing a 1000 in 24..

LadyDraco......came across this thread a couple years ago & just stumbled upon it again. I've perused your expliots here; nice to see you're still hard at it....enjoying life on a bike.

My GF and I live in North Alabama and cruise the Smokies, Central & S.E. Tenn, North Ga. etc...I'm a long time rider. No Valk though, R12R Beemer.
We haven't yet figured out how to meet up with other motorcyclist like you guys seem too.

Anyway, enjoyed reading your trips. Getting a few good ideas on places to visit. Just wanted to tell you thanks for the great info and fun read. Good luck to ya and, maybe we can run into ya in the coming riding season.

Update on farm.. Well yesterday(Thurs) all 9 Longhorns went on a walkabout ...
HB said the other night they wanted to come in and eat..
But when it's raining we don't like them in the driveway..They make to much of a mess.. So he didn't let them in..
And now they are punishing him By going walkabout .. We put 3 round bales out yesterday..
They should be back home in another day or so...Some of the lead cows must have come into heat... And looking for a beau...

But I feel that their efforts will come up empty handed as ALL the neighbors are now WISE to our gals..

I'll be posting up some more RR's soon...

I use to just keep putting up RR's then I kept losing them...
So I thought I would just stay in 1 thread...
Just made my life easier here...In the Asylum

First off the cattle have returned from Walkabout

Now ya'll have heard me talk about Mark and Charlyne..
AKA HotGlue and FlamingoBabe..

They could only stay a week ....I did my best to be done in the garden while they were here... But still had a few things to put up...
But Char is always there to lend me a hand

After a week of day rides and good food and friendship and conversion.The week flew...

Then we all went to our buddies BBQ for the weekend over in TN...
We only had a 100 plus miles to get to our buddies place so we loaded up the bikes ,ours for the weekend ,HG & FB for there trip back to TX..

With HB taking point we felt that a cut through the woods was in order for the day..
Passing the Ostrich farm down the road from us..

Then at the base of Va 16



We went up Va16 aka Back of the Dragon

Then we cut through 91 . And they are working at the bridge still...



Ya have got to love my back yard...

On 42 now I do believe ..

One of the by passes that HB likes to take to sneak around some of the small cities..



This looks like the backside of The Snake heading to ETown..(ElizabethTown)



That is a nice curvy road too..



Now it's getting really hot out .. Yeah yeah I know .. His coat is on the bike...



I do beleive we are on 321 .. Charlyne is really enjoying her Spyder..



Mark has now taken point..



We have arrived to our friends place in TN..
Charlyen is once again ready t lend a hand ...

A Spyder pulled this trailer !!!



This cool little dog was there once again..But with red hair in stead of blue from last year..



He rides on the Spyder with his owner..



Also this little fella was there.. A cute Ferret.. And he too rides ...



There was a good size crowd at the BBQ.. HB and I left early and headed back to the hotel..
HG & FB stayed a little longer as it was also a Spyder event..

The next day we rode a little with Mark and Charlyne ,as the day was so nice for early fall...
We had breakfast together ... Then we all went our separate ways..
We will not see them till spring of 2013....

I have been in/to Paducah many times ...
I love the area "Land between the Lakes"..


Our Valkyrie club had it huge yearly rally there twice 04 and 05 ..The killer was it's in July Way to friggin hot..
We had our ScooterDog cart and worked the rally..At one time I had a 7lbs bag of ice on my head,trying to cool off while I slung hotdogs & BBQ. back in 05

This at the Riverboat we all had a big supper there..



Outside of the hotel parking lot..



Riding early in the morning ...When it was nice and cool out..



This is probably one of my all time favorite pic from that early morning day ride,



And of course we stopped to see the Buffalo..




Ride to Metropolis..Ya have to do this silly stuff every now and then..

Then I grabbed this cool night shot of 300 valk march.. Note HB and I were up front.. So we pulled out of line t take a few pic..
Also that was the first time I had ever jumped my bike ... We did a beer/booze run And well they have these odd medians in KY..
Well it was dark. And as we had to cross over the traffic.. In a small group of 6 valks.. Yuppers you got it I hit that curb thingy and my Beast went flying !!! The dang thing jumped right over the other curb and landed right where it should have in the group..
My buddy Dana watched it and said Dang I have never seen a Valk Jump like that !!! Thank goodness nothing got bent or broke!!!
So yes My Dragon can Fly!!!!

Looking at some of your travels, I would have been surprised if you had not at least been through Paducah. Got to cross the Ohio River somewhere. I agree, the LBL (Land Between the Lakes) is one of my favorite areas...170,000 acres of pretty much nothing but woods. The Trace (road the buffalo were on) is a pretty nice ride down to Dover, TN as well.

If your travels bring you to the area again, give me a heads up...would like to meet both of you.

Yes just the one shot ... The others were taken at some big conference hotel . It was huge.. And Yuppers I have been on the Trace ..

We had plan on leaving early, but our Scooter cat changed our plans…..
Don let her out at 4 am and she didn’t come in till 8:30!!!! Bad kitty…
Ok so a little later then we wanted to leave…That meant we might not make it to Lafayette LA. in one run….

Now your wonder what in the world is LD pointing at??
Will come back to that…..



Ok back on the trip…I just love the long morning shadows..




It was cold!!! At 9am it was still 22*



We both had all of our gerbings on from socks to gloves and everything in between.…



Outside of the cold ,it looks to be a fine day…
By late morning it started to warm up nicely …



By afternoon we made our first food stop..



It sure was a grand afternoon for a longgg ride..



We got to . This place had huge catpaw prints all over the place ..Kinda cool..



This was our last fuel stop for the night, we still felt good so we ran out the tanks..



We got to Slidell La..I guess it was about 750 miles…
HB started loading his bike and I did mine as well..



We didn’t hit it super early .Left the motel around 7 am…



Dang I-12 is long and straight~~ This was our first trip to La…



Then I-10. Yuppers just as straight…



I was really amazed on all the tree damage…I’m not sure which Hurricane damage it was from..



We rode for a while then fueled up ,Oh boy a Gator store .. Bummer not that kind..



We couldn’t find a place to eat there.. So we got back on the slab and found a MickyDee’s Not the best choice but it will have to do… The cool thing is it’s Halloween weekend and well this fella was all ready for the little kiddies.. And having fun to boot..



After having coffee and a snack.. We are back on the highway..

This was a new and strange looking land for us …And we were totally enjoying the ride, even if we are on the super slab....



Yee Haw 24 miles to Baton Rouge !!! The funny thing Garth Brooks song had just finished playing on my MP3 !!

That looks like Boudin Blanc LD.... pork sausage without the pork blood. Basically a pork & rice dressing in sausage form.
