I think mutineer has an R75 and would like to make it into a 3x2?
Not sure what the welding set has to do with anything, perhaps it produces fumes? There isn't any practical way IMHO to make the R75 into a 3x2 except to buy a Ural and graft the motor in. These days IMHO it'd achieve roughly the same thing if you sold the BM and bought a whole Ural 750. If you want to go the first route, you need to talk to serious Ural people and get drawings to make a spacer plate. This allows the Ural gearbox to be fitted to the BM engine. Andy |

I'm reasonably sure that mutt would blow a ural up.
In short order. Course, looks like he's planning to melt that airhead frame, so maybe that's the cheaper option.

Best o' luck to you mate.
That is a pretty lofty goal you've got there. I'd do the same, Begin with a Ural drive train, the cut and weld from there. and not to re-iterate, but, PUI???

"Take the welder and fab up a mount for a winch, and the 2wd becomes unnecessary"
I agree 100%. Most of us should never go into a situation where we actually need 2wd to get through. I like to look at these (Ural) bikes as a 4wd Truck. Only use the 4wd when you do get stuck and use it only to back out. Remember if you get stuck in 4wd, you are screwed!! :) I have yet to run into a stuck situation that I could not simply put the bike in reverse and back right out using 1wd. Mind you that I am not Dirt Biking my Ural, but riding back, BACK roads and trails. Just my mindless rambling!! :) Back to regular scheduled programming. This was only a Test!! Scott |
