Chances are slim to none of me getting to Atlanta then RIC. I appreciate the offers to wait but it's not looking good. I will keep you posted...

Free GPS

Finally broke down and got a new(er) GPS. So the old one must go.

I have a Garmin Street Pilot 2610 that has issues. Free.

Good:

It works (kind of).
Waterproof. Can use with gloves.
Has 2 mounts, one good (RAM), one not so good (Garmin).
Has motorcycle power cord.
Has bean bag mount.

Bad:

Has screen issue. Cannot use areas on edge of screen. Dunno if this is fixable.
Has car power cord, but connector is flaky. Really needs replacing.
Occasionally starts jumping around, but goes away after 20 minutes or so of "burn-in".
Old software. 2008 City Navigator.

email me at pplassm1979@yahoo.com, please. I don't check in everyday. I'll bring it to work with me tomorrow (DSCR).

Chuck is in ATL, due to arrive around midnight, if all goes well, we are still planning for a 0700 start time! I have a caffeine free 5 hour energy drink waiting for him!! My entire left Jesse bag has been converted to a Gatorade, water and ginger ale cooler that will be filled with ice in the morning

I picked up a 70 oz hydration backpack at Target today on sale for $29 (Camelback wanted $30 JUST FOR A REPLACEMENT BLADDER!)

Fellow Inmates, I have a puzzle for you.

I want to find a road like this, within a day or two of Richmond. Is it possible? Have any of you seen anything like this, on this side of the country?

This was a shot from a ride report here on ADV, and I'm sure in was in the west. But I've got this desire to find something more ... alien ... in the east. And this photo has mesmerized me for some time now.

Anyone?

Finding an abandoned road won't be hard, but that barren landscape, not much like it on the east coast.

This is the closest thing on the East cost I can think of off hand.

The Reading Anthracite lands in PA may offer some moonscape type riding. There are many MTR sites in WV but almost all are closed to vehicles.

Miles of partially built freeway in WV. http://goo.gl/maps/AXvO

I thought that was a photo of the beach road on the outer banks.. I have seen it like that with huge wash outs. Not a fun place when in that condition.

That being said. Anybody interested in water front property in the Buxton area? Water front.
