Today

You guys have fun today. I'm down at Willville in Meadows of Dan contemplating when and if to start home. There is a very active front heading straight for I-81 and central VA.

I picked up the BRP yesterday at Hwy 56 and rode all the way down here. Since the weather looks #%*+=#y I may keep heading south. Not sure. I'm on the GL1800 this weekend since the GS is down for some PM.

In regards to servo brakes (I had them on my K1200RS) they sure are nice but to repair or replace them they say its around 2K. The system also takes special tools to bleed the brakes in a specific order. They do however work very well.

I'm with Andrew ...... I have 4 different kind of bikes and many over the years. My 12GS is certainly my DO ALL kind of bike. I can't see myself getting rid of her even over the Goldwing.

Have a great day!

Today's RTE

Had a nice lunch today with three of my former work associates, and 1 ADVer (Toddzaker) showing up. Todd is in the far left rear of the group shot.

Had a little entertainment for this one. Just as I pulled off Laburnum onto Darbytown Road, I'm seeing flashing blues in my mirrors and hearing a siren a blazing. Thought WT hey?; I wasn't speeding. I started to pull over and he (a Henrico Police car) goes shooting by me..... followed by another in an unmarked Blazer, and then another car. They were scooting, and by the time I get to turn off into the Pinewood, I see several more Henrico cars turning in the same direction. All told, there must have been a total of 8 Henrico, and two VSP cars converging on a house (or apartment) just down one of the side streets. Police plane was even out circling the excitement. Very shortly, we could see the police escorting someone in cuffs to the back of a car. The police even had a presence on Darbytown since this side street parallels it and I guess they were blocking all escape routes. It was all over in about 45 minutes and the police began dispersing from the area. Three of them actually came into the Pinewood for lunch and I made a comment about that being convenient. They laughed. Didn't inquire what was going on. Sure we'll hear about it on the 6:00 o'clock news.

At any rate, the meal was great, as was the company. Good time and sorry most of you missed it.

You just can't go wrong with their daily Blue Plate Specials. At $6.00 + all the tea can drink, I found myself eating there too many times when I was working in the area. I forget the sequence during the week, but it includes hamburger steak, cheeseburger steak, pork chops, meat loaf, and of course the Baked Spaghetti on Friday. All of the others come with mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, and bread. Think roast beef is occasionally thrown in there somewhere.

Work slacks started getting too tight so I had to back off.

Guy,

That tea has the sugar content of a hard candy, talk about southern SWEET. Good stuff Makes me miss my Grandmother, hers used to separate in the frig, you would have to stir the mass of sugar at the bottom each time you went to pour.

LOL! Yup, I'd say what's his name (drawing a blank here), has that "recipe" down pat.

Oh shoot, let's talk more food.........

For better, or for worse for my waistline, this was actually my second RTE in two consecutive days.

Rode out to an event last night to enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship with a great group of people, but to also enjoy a wonderful meal consisting of a BBQ'd lamb chop as an appetizer, a steak that had to weigh in at over a pound, a baked potato the size of a small football, and a salad. Dessert consisted of pumpkin and/or apple pie. And of course, there were beverages of all types. Icing on the cake was to be able to exercise a couple of my lead-spitting devices and pop a few holes.

Will have to miss the RTE next week at City Dogs (assume that's where ya'll are still headed?). I'll be out town for the long holiday weekend to do some riding, camping, and yes – eating, over in WV. Ya'll have fun.

All that RTE food looks great!

Stuck here at home drinking a spinach, banana, and coconut smoothie since I am just back home from Dental implant surgery on my upper front jaw. Had a titanium helicoil put in.

John,

I feel your pain.

Being blessed with periodontal disease that has not responded to treatment for the last 32 years (including full-quad surgery), I finally said bag it and decided to try a different dentist that my wife had been seeing. They did the full panoramic x-ray, and did a full plaster makeup of my teeth. I went back a couple of weeks later and he had an “X” on 13 teeth. He told me that those had to come out. Thinking about just saying screwz it and getting them all taken out, he told me that they had made some remarkable improvements over the last several years with implants, probably similar to what you had done.

I asked what kind of $$ he was talking. He told me somewhere in the $45 to $50 thousand range. I looked that man straight in the eye and said, “Are you fuc#ing crazy? Ain't no way in hell am I going spend that much money on a 62 year old mouth!”....... and walked out.

That was ~6 years ago, and I have had some teeth come out when eating something I shouldn't considering their condition.... but that occurred in the comfort of my own home, or the garage. I haven't had a cavity in close to 40 years, but the gums and jaw bone structure just ain't working any longer.

I'm not vain to the point of giving a rat's behind if I look like Gabby Hayes (or some of my WV relatives), but should it get to the point that my diet digresses to Pablum, mush, or having to run all my food through a blender, then I'll consider just getting rest of them ripped out and get a set of false choppers.

And so it goes..............

While I was typing this, I kept thinking next week's RTE was at a place called Hot Dog Johnny's. Actually, this is a place up in Joisey I have plugged into my GPS to stop for lunch on my way to a COG Rally up in Matamoras, PA at the end of October.

Silly me..................

Who did your implant surgery? I actually sell dental implants...There will be no pain unless you had a tooth extracted at the same time..

Surgeon is Dr Kanyon Keeney from Richmond who also rides and has a few dirt bikes. My dentist is in Willimiamsburg.

They said Sunday will be the peak pain day. So far so good with no pain. Had good gums and good upper jaw bone density.

Today Mod

Hey Eddy,
When I got home today soaking wet .... I finished the tail light mod on my DRZ. The big rear fender is gone. In addition I added a tool tube to the left side of the bike. It looks a whole lot different now. Lets ride!

Dr Keeney is the best in Richmond and he places Straumann which is the company I work for. Who is your restorative Dentist? Im guessing Monica Contract if you went to Richmond and your General Dentist is in Williamsburg. Well if he placed a Straumann it is the best implant on the market and I'm not saying that cause I work for them, but because it is true. Very expensive but worth every penny, you will never have a problem. I have 3 and my mother has 6 and not an issue.
