"tolerated", that's a good word for it.

Except I don't think it's public land. These strips of no-mans lands between the highways/train tracks/ powerlines etc. basically a patchwork of utility easements. Has to belong to somebody/entity, but clearly not used for much except by the quad-billies...

Well, when in doubt, ask a Korean.... which I have. Waiting for a response.

Will ask a couple more tomorrow morning.... owners of the King Deli at the corner of Belmont and Turner Roads....... which may be an option at a future RTE.

Shoot, if my wife has Bible study tonight, I may wander up there and get a sandwich for dinner.

I've riddden out there many times over the years and usually off loaded the bike(s) from my truck at Crestwood ES parking lot. I've had the police cruise thru as we off loaded and asked them if it was OK and they so it was but to walk the bikes across the school yard grass to the woods..."no problem officer".

I did talk to a guy a year or two ago that said he'd heard some of the land had been sold as was to be developed for housing; but with the down turn in the economy, I guess that's on hold.

There's a Korean place called "Koreana" in Colonial Heights.. I like it. They have a buffet at lunchtime. It might be too far south for an RTE.

good reviews..

I believe it was a closed course. Though not to those jumping critters.

Hey Buddy I thought the same thing til I realized it was a closed course. Meaning closed to any other traffic.

Boon beat me to it as I was typing.

I don't know of any that is actually legal. There are others much more knowledgeable than myself on the subject. If you look back many pages on this thread there is some veiled discussion of one local area and someone even posted a shot of google maps.

Besides the few local areas that some here scoot over to for short jaunts, I think most of us head west. My advice is buy a DS bike with some legs or have a trailer available. Personally, I find my WR great for everything but extended highway riding. The only beef I have with the highway on it is that turbulence from other vehicles catches my front fender at 75mph and causes a front end wobble. Also, I have trouble maintaining 70mph plus on uphill climbs.

I won't say a DS is the same as an SV650 but with a milder DS tire they can still be pretty fun on the street.
Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I'll be on the highway too much with it. If I head west I normally take route 60, and so I'm only doing 65 mph tops most of the time.

Dammit, try this link: http://goo.gl/maps/mzTlf

The good: It's public land, the cops know about it, and it's "tolerated"
The bad: The cops know about it.

People enter from behiond Wal-Mart and Martins.

See you out there.

Oh, and Ken Germain of Ken's Cycles is putting together a DS ride for the 28th. Contact me if you want details.
Thanks, you're actually the third person in the last hour to tell me about this location. Small world. I would like to know about the 28th, but I probably wont have my new bike by then. I need to find one for sale, and sell mine.

Chesterfield GIS shows it as mostly being owned by HMK LLC, who purchased it in 1995.

There is a 15 acre portion owned by Craven Investment Corporation, they purchased in December of 1985.

Doesn't appear that either of them is in a rush to develop it. Hope we get the Boundary Survey though. I might bring my bike.

Korean RTE

My first Korean friend to respond recommends:

88 Garden
6135 Midlothian Turnpike Richmond, VA 23225...... which is just down the street from Korean Garden, the one that Hig thought was meh.

Buzz and Neds

We seem to be getting some mixed reviews on Buzz and Neds. Is that still the game plan to hit their place on Broad??

Pete,

I manage the Martins at Stratford hills and I see bikes rolling back there everyday! Now they drive back to the tracks and park out of sight. Someone actually put gravel down on the hill leaving the pavement.
