It is clear but wet here in Elkton now. Harrisonburg had snow but no word of it sticking. be safe.

Does anyone know if the Urbana Oyster fest is still on for the weekend?

Eddy .... I wonder how much fun Shoe Creek would be this weekend?
According to their webpage, it's still on:

http://www.urbannaoysterfestival.com/

and I am planning on going. Will know for sure Thursday evening.

Anyone in the Greater Richmond/Greater Norfolk area know of a good place to buy a pool table? I am looking for a Bumper Pool Table. I had a lead for a used one with a slate table but the guy was trying to sell it for his parents that moved to another State. Never heard back. Anyway, looking for one that is rectangular. cheers, jh

If you ride with Rusty's group you get to park in Urbanna and won't have to pay $10-20 to park-just a donation to the lady that lets the motorcycles park in her yard, etc. Also the car parking areas are a good hike from town and no shuttle service.

Urbanna Oyster Fest

Yeah we are heading to it and if you haven't been, it is a lot of fun. We are driving also even though I would love to ride, but I plan to drink so Nicole is driving the car for me...The band Friday night is a blast at the fire station.

What ever you do, do not drink if you are a driver. Not just for the obvious reasons but also they have check points every way out of the area. So have fun and hope to see some of you there...

When I worked in Tidewater for Cat, used to make many trips down to Wanchese to work on boats. During the fall, co-workers who knew I was headed that way would place orders to bring back oysters.... like LOTS of oysters. Many times I came back with several large burlap bags stuffed with them in my service van.

Wife thinks they are disgusting, but that didn't stop a bunch of us from hunkerin down in my "new" cold garage after work to shuck, slurp down the critters, and suck up a lot of beer. They usually got there before I did. Having 6 or 7 service trucks pull up in front of the house had the wife thinking something had happened to me. "Nope, he's fine; just stopped to pick up "some" beer." Picture eyes rolling back in her head.

Man, those were the good times and looking forward to someone else doing the shucking.

And that "famous" hot dog joint I made a point of stopping at on the way up, Hot Dog Johnny's......

In my best Brooklyn accent: Fer-get about it.

Awful. Worst dogs I ever ate.

Crazy how much of a difference a little bit of elevation gain makes.

These are earlier today, sent by my brother-in-law from his cabin in Slatyfork right by the entrance to Snowshoe.

Looking forward to it.

I may take a collapsible cooler with me and try to bring back some of those un-shucked bivalve molluscs home for later enjoyment. I still have a shucking knife from the old days.

Is it a fair assumption that most of the Friday RTEers will be heading towards "awsters" on Friday? (Alas, I have to work. Sob.)
