I used oil instead of water because it doesn't break things if it gets sucked into the engine. I didn't bother with the board on mine. I would just loop the tubing over the handle bars.

I guess if my bikes didn't have FI, you would think I rode a KLR.

Not true.

Multi 4-cylinder bike carb banks are divided in two sections, a left bank, and a right bank, and they each have balance screws.

Balance the left two, then balance the right two. Once that is done, connect your device to one of the carbs on the left, and one of the carbs on the right - then - balance the two banks with the central balance adjuster.

Same concept as using a TwinMax.

The big GS is getting closer. The old shocks are off and most of the wiring has been addressed. The rear shock was easy. All I had to do was drop the exhaust can, remove the rear mud guard and out it came. The front was a little more complex. With the tank removed I had to drop the engine guards, disconnect a brake line tree and remove the alternator cover. So far so good working solo.

In regards to wiring I found two broken or severed cords. One power cord to my tank bag and one to the intercom/GPS interface. I always wondered why my phone would never charge in my tank bag.... now I know.

The shocks come today but I fly out at 2:30 before they get here for a 4 day trip. Here is what the bike looks like today.

Mike, I have a valve adjusting tool for those if you think you'll need it. Can be done without, but just makes it a little easier.

That would have been handy...deed is done though, except for the carb. sync....thanks anyway.

I started thinking about that after I posted. Wasn't sure if you would adjust left pair, then adjust middle pair but only by the screw on the right most and so on. It makes more sense now that you mention a central adjusting screw for each pair so you can balance right bank versus left bank.

At first glance I thought it was a Ninja 250. Looking closer the differences show.

For some reason I figured it would be like the 250 and have the timing chain on one side instead of in the middle like a inline 4. Like HBN said, learn something every day including the fact that everyone and there brother has a carb sync tool except Michub.
