IMHO if they ever finish the TAT to the ocean, they should do it to the OBX.

I have a second copy you can have to do whatever. Should be done with in in a couple of days.

I did this with my Simplex and an old XT600. It is fraught with risk. But, if I'm not mistaken, the DMV only runs th VIN against the VA DMV database to see if there is an outstanding title. Your risk is if it was titled in VA and they notify that person. If they wish to have the bike back, you could place a mechanic's lein against it for storage, and present them a bill. In the case of the XT600, the true owner was given a bill for a year's worth of storage at $7 a day. They had a choice of paying that, or relinquishing their ownership. When they refused the certified letter we sent, the DMV gave us the title in one day. Towing companies know all about this trick.

I've rode quite a bit of both, I don't think you all would be disappointed riding either. It wouldn't take much work to put together a loop using both. Here's a RR from a TWVT ride we did a couple years ago.

Jeff, I have a copy as well so you each can have one to drool over.

I am sitting here with not much action today. Oddly, a very slow day in the clinic. I just finished reading over the 13 pages of your trip "Finding Panama". Now I feel like a caged lion! That report made me envision far away lands, cold Mexican beer in glass bottles, fresh Snapper, hammocks and warm coastal breezes! Sigh! I've got to get out and get some miles on my bike before I go mad! And winter has just begun... I need to buy a heated jacket liner this weekend at the show so that I can get out some more when it's cold!

H14, that ride looks awesome!

Dammit, I'm getting way too ginned up for it being only Jan 3rd... There's a lot of winter between us and the BRT.
I asked for the GPX files months ago and got no response.

I'm out for the motorcycle show tomorrow...meetings have materialized. A slim possibility might be on Sunday.

On another note, I'm interested in doing the ride later in the year you guys have been talking about.I like riding on or off road and camping.

Hello from OZ

Hello from OZ,
I miss my ADV friends and riding my bikes but I can't complain about being on the other side of the world where it's summer. To my surprise there are not as many bikes over here as I expected. Only a couple GS's, sport bikes and lots of HD's. Who would have guessed that?

New Zealand had the best roads for riding. I don't think there was a stretch of road longer than a mile without a turn in it. I'd call it Hwy 56 (on steroids) in the Alps in summer. The most beautiful place I have ever been. Ask Jeff. I wish I could post some of the photos.

Driving up the Gold Coast in Australia is beautiful if you like the ocean and surfing but the roads so far are not that exciting. The fastest speed limit so far is 110 km (65mph) and they have speed cameras everywhere.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble. Sorry to hear the New Year's Day ride was cancelled because of weather. That has always been a fun ride.

Happy New Year everyone.

I fully intend on taking 6 weeks this year. I think Laurel Fork will be the first week...BWDR will definitely be another... Some family vacations in the summer & I might actually turn my phone off for a couple of them. Who am I kiddin'...I won't turn my phone off.
What do you sell that gives you that much time off!

I'm in sales, and I would love to be able to take off more than a few days at a time. I need a different industry to sell for.

On a side note, I saw the guy that's crazy enough to ride is ninja at the training grounds. I waved to him but he probably had no idea who I was.

You could probably spend better part of a week to travel the whole thing, camping along the way with side trips and stopping to smell the roses.
Wow. Just went to the link. What a fantastic trail to have here in Virginia. I think it'd be the perfect training ground for Joe. If anyone gets the GPS files, please let me know. I think Joe and I will be doing this in sections this Spring. What a great way to learn to DS ride AND camp. Sort of like the whole reason Laurel Fork was started.......

So I'm in. Should we all ping error cooled, or just one person for the group?

jeff
