Went for a ride on the storm. Fork oil made a slight difference. Wouldn't call it a big difference. When I got back I started up the WR because it hadn't been run since Christmas. Rode it around the neighborhood and let everything get warm. Rear brake doesn't work worth shit since I removed the zip tie and replaced the pin in that caliper. I'll pull it apart sometime this week I guess and figure out what isn't right. Might just need a fluid swap. Brake does engage at the bottom of pedal travel but before that it has no effect. All parts appear to be there.

Ride to Montebello today.

I’ve been itching to ride to the mountains since the first of the year
and I got tired of sitting around waiting for better riding weather.
I started to ride out to Blue Grass Valley this past Saturday then
Sunday but with all the snow lately I suspected the roads would be
in poor condition especially with the temps as low as they were in
the mornings. So, this afternoon I couldn’t take it any longer and rode
out to Montebello. Naturally, I took my favorite Rte 56. It was actually
pretty clean all the way to Tyro. Once into the twisties there was a fair
amount of sand and salt on the road I so I rode the tire tracks just to be
on the safe side up to Montebello. The young lady that runs the store
told me they got 10” of snow when we got 3-1/2”. Their snow started
at the falls and up and over the mountain. In a few minutes one of the
locals came down from the top and confirmed what I had suspected.
The BRP is closed. So I didn’t even bother to ride of to the BRP.

Here are a few photos from this afternoon.

I thought about checking some of the Pedlar district forrestry roads till I saw the Forrestry road leading up to Crab Tree Meadows.

Beautiful photos! Thanks for taking the time to snap em. I wish I could have been doing that instead of working. Is the parkway closed for the season? I know they don't plow the roads up there and they probably don't salt them either so that the pavement lasts longer. I've never tried going up there this late into the winter so I don't really know how it works.

New IMS tank.. next time somebody wants to slab it to FL let me know, I'm ready.

I went with the IMS becuase it was substantially narrower and fuel sits lower.

slim between the knees..

They will reopen sections as they thaw out and that can take quite a while depending on weather and accumulated ice/snow. You don't really want to sneak up there by back roads. Don't ask me how I know.

There are back roads and dirt roads that cross the BRP if you know where they are. But when the parkway is closed it's for a good reason. Usually you will find large sheets of ice covering the parkway in the most unexpected places which can be deadly.

It was a balmy 50 degrees yesterday. It only dipped into the lower 40s in one place in the shade.

Swap Meet

Just thought that I should chime in on the York Swap Meet Auction Sunday. First time attending a swap meet and auction, great event and tons of fun. After two lagers at lunch with some friends, I bought a 1974 Penton 125 Six- Day at the auction. Looks like a museum piece, and I am a little scared to ride it (a fool and his money will soon part). I probably shouldn't take it to my farm, ran ride the heck out of it, but I probably will. I have never ridden a two stroke, sort of like hopping on my leaf blower and hitting the throttle. Lots of bikes, some cheap and some very nice. I don't post much, but couldn't resist.

Nice pictures MADSTROM, especially the last one. 56 is one of my favorite roads in VA. Here's one from before I sold the SV. I never could get the Go Pro mounted in a place where the level of lean was actually noticeable.

Edit: Why won't it embed here?
