that would be the creator of this thread, mikeinrichmond. He kind of dropped of the board and I have not heard from him in close to 2 years.

Productive evening. Installed hyperlites on the dl650 and replaced a long broken snap on the roadcrafter. Also had a follow up with the Eye Doc this morning. Vision measured between 20/20 and 20/15 and I was thinking it was a little blurry compared to how it has been.

Eddy, there is nothing wrong with rolling solo. I'd say at least half my riding goes that way. Always nice to be on your own schedule and be able to pick your own direction. The only thing it limits for me is how rough of a forest road I'll ride. I usually don't do anything worse than semi graded dirt/gravel solo. I'm wary of getting someplace where I can't pick the pig or get turned around. I always think about if I can ride back the way I am going.

I suspect that is Mikeinrichmond.... founder of this richmond chatter "forum." If him, he bought tommyhof's Connie..... on my carport.

Like a lot of us, he was hot and heavy in richmond commuter tag game.

Oh, and Greg, ... very sad to see the GS sawed in half. Hopefully the magician will put it back together. Looks kinda like a surgery gone awry right now. :-( No way in hell would I ever attempt that myself. LOL!
Appreciate it Rick, and glad to hear the bike is running good.

One thing I did forget to do was to check that front fairing stay bolt up on the steering head. You might want to wrench it with a 12mm socket to make sure it is tight.

Thanks. I'd driven by his place so many times, I'm surprised I've never seen him. His last activity was in July of 2011.

I've plunged into the rim replacement.

During my first 10-15 years on bikes, I was almost anti-social regarding riding, I rode alone almost exclusively. Now, I still ride alone at times but enjoy riding in a very small group, especially when we know each others riding styles. The thought of being anywhere near a massive parade of chrome covered bikes riding in formation at 30 mph still gives me a rash. If I can find it, I might post a very funny/embarrassing picture of me covered in black leather on something very shiny, with a lot of chrome, mini ape hangers and flames painted on the tank. Maybe not, it's too painful...
Since Lynn's quit riding pillon the day our daughter (who will be 10 in two weeks) was born, it's sometimes nice to have someone to enjoy the ride with (and to help upright napping German hogs in the ugly stuff) LOL!
Maybe we can meet for lunch or dinner out west tomorrow?

Go for it.. I've done three with no help or prior experience. It's not really hard, but takes a lot of patience especially when you're like me and don't really know what you're doing. Spent a lot of time tweaking half turn here and there before I was satisfied.

Two recycled rims, and one new. The actual putting in the spokes gets easy quick once you get the inner/outer pattern nailed down. It's the getting/keeping it straight as you tighten nipples that takes so long. The one brand new rim I used was by far the easiest.

I want to, but need to move forward with the valve check/adjust on that F800GS. I want to try and determine if any shims will be needed to be ordered before the end of the day... or get it buttoned back up if not.
