yeah nice weather

Now if I can convince the GF that I am not running a fever.

HB you'll be glad to know I just ordered tires. Got me a set of Conti Trail Attacks on the way for the wee. They should arrive before my stich.

I plan on getting out riding at least one day this weekend. No idea where to, maybe just out through Powhatan and Amelia etc. Probably won't be until Sunday though, got to get over being sick.

I'll give 'em a call in the am.

I used to have a place I got them for $20... walk up to the counter and say "I need an inspection sticker for a mc", hand $20 to the guy, and walk out with your sticker.

Easy.

There's a place out my way, but it always seems to take forever there.

You might see me there, I need one too. I never call, this shop still acts like they like bikers.

Cycle Concepts is a really great shop. I've bought two bikes there and I trust them with any of my "complicated" work (which is most of it since I'm not a talented mechanic). However, unless they've started it recently, they don't do inspections. Cycle Concepts has always referred me to Departure Bike Works. Departure caters to the chopper crowd but they tolerated my (dual sport) bikes ok and I've had no problems getting my bikes inspected. It's at 5216 Hull Street and just east of Cycle Concepts. Not sure if Departure's "inspector" works every Saturday so you might want to phone them before stopping in there (804) 231-0244.
Good Luck!

Thanks, but I'm not welcome in DBW.

Long story involving a bunch of arrests in my previous career.

I've been using Ken's over on 9 Mile cause they're close to my work. Ride over at lunch, in, and out - usually within 30 minutes. Only "issue" I ever had was when one inspector was hesitant on inspecting the KLR when I had the studded tires mounted on it. One of the other fellas said he'd do it if he wouldn't.

Things to ride to in the next two weekends

Just a reminder, and for those who have never been:

over the second and third weekend of March is the annual Highland County Maple Festival. It is two weekends of one of the nicest, rural celebrations of maple syrup production in the eastern US. It is a rollling festival in most of the towns throughout Highland county. Each has its own dance, pancake breakfast, booths, etc. Several actual operating Sugar Camps will be functioning, giving tours, and selling all things related to maple syrup.

We go every year and buy a case of the local syrup to give as gifts to visitors. My personal favorites are the hand-made, fresh dipped, maple doughnuts sold at the Sugar Tree Country Store in McDowell. Straight from the fryer, dipped in warm maple frosting. Gooey and sweet on the outside, yet crunchy and warm on the inside. When you eat one out of doors while you can see the steam coming off the doughnut, it just makes it taste even better.

So even if you don't ride over, take a car and go anyway! It is kind of centered around Monterey, but McDowell, Bluegrass and others are involved too. Hope to see some of you there!

Hmmmm. Did I mention the Buckwheat pancakes too?

I usually ride further west over into WV and Pickens for the WV Maple Syrup Festival.... and am going again this year.

Been thru Monterey on the way and the place is packed since their w/e are usually the same.
