Here we go. I did really use my new skid plate yesterday. There is a nice crease in the middle that is barely visible on the top side.
![]() ![]() I'll be hitting the bottom of it with some bed liner and the top with some high temp paint before it goes back on the bike. |

Wow,
After seeing that I laid down underneath my 12GS and gave it a good look over. The rims looked good but I had a couple dings on both sides of the exhaust just outside of the skid plate. The fender extender seemed to keep the smaller rocks off the cross-over but I guess those basket ball size rocks reached up and got the exhaust. Im positive the kick stand and center stand protected the rear of the exhaust but after seeing all the dings I may invest in a center stand guard. I don't think I ever bottomed out the suspension..... thank goodness. In hindsight and from the photos Im not sure how the V-Stroms made it through there. |

I didn't bottom out the suspension. I just didn't have the ground clearance to make it over a bunch of the stuff without scraping.

If you're going to continue riding in the places you have, you might want to consider beefing up your skid pans.

Completely was not planning on riding something that messy and don't plan on doing so again on the wee. The skid plate I have is 1/8th inch steel.

nada, except for a motor mount bracket bolt that has come up missing despite loctite blue gel. i'm going to pull all the rest of those bolts and reinstall with red. i thought that the low muffler might have a ding or two, but not a scratch. |

What material is your existing pan made of? If steel, I could do it now but it would probably need to be done in a couple of sections. If aluminum, I will need to get that material in. Either one, I would prefer to have a sheetmetal brake at my disposal to properly form the piece. I see another tool on the horizon............................ Seriously, tell me what you have and let me collect what I need to do the job right.... and we'll go from there. And, thank you. Guy

Cool pic's and videos'! Thanks for sharing! Cool scratches on the skid plates too! You know, GS really stands for bikes with "Gashes and Scratches!"
I guess we will need to come up with something cool for the DL650...

Hey guys, I'm down in VB so usually stick to Hampton Roads chatter, but figured I'd post here as well.
Looking for a bike for under $2k. If you know of anyone with one, please PM me. Dual sport or street bike is fine. |

Jimmy Mootz
I went to visit him this past Friday. He's in room 202 in the Trauma Unit on the 9th Floor of the MCV Main Hospital. The lady at the hospital Info Desk had to search twice to find him for me.He's in good spirits but pretty broken up.He was supposed to be there at least another week before moving to a rehab unit.
