I was able to escape for a couple of hours and ride around P'burg, Richard Bland, Carson, PG, Dinwiddie and Matoaca. I got lost a few times, which is a GOOD thing. I did manage to find some gravel roads but didn't go too far down them as I was alone, I had no cell phone and my new SPOT was still at home in the box. I then made my way home, as instructed, for the dinner party.

It was perfect out there today!

Lost a good dog today.

As we were preparing for church this morning, my wife found our beagle was unable to walk and was experiencing very labored breathing. Before we could get dressed to take him to the vet's office, he went into a seizure.

After running blood work and a toxicology report, we discovered that he had ingested anti-freeze. He had suffered so many seizures, that it was highly unlikely that he would ever recover. His last hours were fraught with pain and suffering.

Godspeed Buck. We'll miss you boy.

If you're flushing your radiator as winter approaches, please make sure to contain the old anti-freeze properly.

Jimmy, that really sucks and am terribly sorry for your family's loss.

And yes, I am very cautious about what I leave around in the various (open) containers out there. Even tho' stuff may seem repugnant to us, critters don't know any better and may get into it.

I am sorry about you losing your dog Jimmy. By the looks of his snout, it appears that he had been a part of the family for a long time. Lot's of great memories I'm sure...remember those times and smile.

Its always hard to lose a family memeber Jimmy. It gets easier with time, but still sucks.

Animals are attracted to the sweet sent of the antifreeze. Thats why you'll occasionally hear about a neighbor soaking a steak in antifreeze and feeding it to a persons dog because they bark too much or some crap along those lines.

Who wants to do a SS1000?

I don't know why, but I have a itch to do a Iron Butt SS1000 and see what the long distance fuss is all about. It seems that most everyone who participates in long distance riding seems to enjoy it very much. I've done the entire BRP (northbound) and then home in one day on a Triumph Scrambler and have gone from Cape Canaveral to Richmond (750 miles) in one day on a comfy Road King Classic and on a R1200ST. None of these rides seemed too difficult.
This might be challenging and fun! Anybody possibly interested in trying this with me? Route is yet to be determined but Key West is 1100 miles away. It could make for a fun four day weekend!

Day 1: Non-stop Richmond to Key West
Day 2: Enjoy Key West, rest, eat and watch the weirdos and tourists on Duvall St.
Day 3 & 4: Ride home.
Ideas? Any experienced IBA riders out there?

Hit a deer

Damn hunters using dogs to chase deer...........BTW, sorry for your loss Jimmy.

Was heading to Charles City, VA Saturday morning on RT 5 to visit some friends in Williamsburg, VA I had just past the turn off to RT 156, and BAM !!! A 10 point buck comes flying out of the woods and plows into the bed of my truck and antlers were going every where.

Cars coming in the other direction were slamming on their brakes and sliding into the ditch, it was a real mess. I stopped the truck, the deer was dead and 5 dogs come running out of the woods, each dog had a antenna hanging off their collar.

About a 2 minutes later 3 Bubba trucks arrive with dog boxes in their beds, I'm dragging the dead deer off the road, one of the hunters tells me to leave his deer alone. WHAT !!!!!!! His deer I said, I don't see any bullet holes in this SOB. Sue jumps out of the truck and tells me to calm down they have guns and I don't, but she did hand me the .357 from under the seat.

Just got the estimate to fix the truck, $2800, yes I have a deductible, but my rates are going to go up because I will file a claim.

Huntin with dogs should be against the law, sorry if I offend anyone but if I do offend you please explain to me where the sport is in that. It's a good thing I wasn't on the GSA, I would have been killed.

Guess it's time to get off my soap box.

Kurt, glad you're okay. I assume the truck was the toy hauler, hauler?? Big a$$ truck with lots of sheetmetal.

Don't know who your insurance is with, but I have never seen a rate increase due to incidents. No my own, but with my younger daughter when she was still on my policy. One even involved a lawsuit that wound up in court and the insurance company paid.

Regardless, good luck with it and again, glad you are okay and the Bubbas didn't make you squeal like a pig.

Exactly, all that matters is that you are alive and able to used your arms type! LOL! But, it still stinks that your truck is mashed up. I agree with your position regarding hunting with dogs, but the same could be argued about being a sniper and killing a unsuspecting deer at 300 yards with a high powered rifle and scope.

I've done it for the meat, but I recognize that neither is a sport. I'll defend it as a sport when you hunt lions or bears with a Bowie knife and a .22 pistol.
