License plate

I just followed a pickup truck with the VA license plate "ADV RIDR" ... Lost the truck when it turned left onto Old Rd after traveling down Hopkins Rd. I assume he's a member here?

Had a visitor last evening

Shortly after dark last night when I was back in the house, the motion sensor security lights on the front of the garage kept cycling on and off. Went out and reset the lights, but it kept happening. I figured the sensor had gone bad and was doing this on its own. The lights eventually settled down and stayed out.

About an hour later, I went out on the back porch for a cigarette. Chopper (our dog) followed me out and took his position on a back step to peruse the darkness like he usually does. Occasionally he'll blast off into the backyard to chase a squirrel, a cat, or whatever else he may see. This time was no different. He took off in a mad charge towards the back corner growling and barking as he went. This time it was following with frantic barking, like he usually does when he sees a nearby cat, but this time it persisted, most intense, and he wouldn't let up.

Figured I'd better go check it out, and this is what I found:

He had run this fella up a small tree. After dragging the dog back in the house, I retrieved my camera and took these pix.

I went back out about an hour later and Chopper headed to the back corner. This time no barking, so guess the 'possum felt it was safe, came down, and wandered off. I can only assume this was the reason the lights were doing what they were doing, and I (and Chopper) missed seeing him when I had gone out earlier to reset the lights.

I consider the critters a benny of living in the country. There's lots of wildlife out here still, deer, eagles, hawks, turkeys and even the occasional bear. I even have a flock crows I feed on a regular basis.
Well, harmless to people maybe but deadly for my Guineas. They will eat the abdomen off the guinea (and eat the eggs) and leave the body much like what a raccoon will do(raccoons eat the head and entrails). Anywhere near my coop and it's shoot to kill. We had a Broad Winged Hawk swoop down on our guineas about a month ago luckily it got scared off by my wife. Hazards of having critters in the country.

John, You need to call Ernie "The Turtle Man." Once you watch one episode on Animal Planet (Sundays at 10:00 PM), you will be hooked! I laughed so hard that I had tears running down my face!

There is a nice late model Honda XR100 on CL right now for $450.

You are not going to beat that price. It might need some work though.

Unless you're planning on pulling those heads, you'd better get some clean rags stuffed down in those intake runners.

.........I see the new 2013 model KTM made it to Guy's shop for review.

KTM is going to use the triple tree as a intake manifold, by raising the carburetors or TB's the rider can transverse deeper puddles, creeks, rivers, etc. Kind of like the Jeep snorkle.
