I was just talking to a guy from Richmond Alarm today about the new place. Previous owners had ADT and the equipment is old. We're probably going to go with a non-monitored system. It will talk to us through our smartphones should something go awry. Richmond PD isn't exactly the quickest. Several neighbors have told us about one+ hour response times, and the bad guys know it. So actual alarms and texts to us are probably the answer. Still not cheap.

Well since I received approval last week and recieved my bonus from work, I am in the market for a nice 250cc DS. I'm thinking wr250r or klx250s. I think the Drz will be more of a pig than I want and only has 5 gears. I am leaning towards the kawi based on price and availability but wouldn't turn my nose up at the wr if I find one at a decent price.

Suggestions of other models and feedback is appreciated.

WR250R all the way. The two I've had were great bikes! Pop a programmer on there and exhaust/intake mod and you are good to go!

yeah, WR250R. i have finally gotten around to riding mine after it sat in the corner of the shop for a year. FI and the 6spd, averaging 70mpg, even spinning that little motor pretty good. you can map the ecu without a programmer right from the bike if you want to make changes. the bike does real well offroad with the stock suspension and decent tires. low mile used bikes are out there if you do the usual online searches, especially if you don't mind a little drive to pick it up.

Nahhh I'm done. Staying in a hotel this week as there is 100 new recruits showing up at the academy Monday AM. Should be fun to see them get accustomed to it all. My last week is dress rehearsals and a few classes. I was actually sworn-in in Oct. and passed the DCJS exam a few weeks ago . I got OC sprayed yesterday. That was no joke Catch up with you soon (Looking for a KTM 990)

I knew it wouldn't be long before he was looking for something. So the 640 was too slow?

The KTM supermoto was a "625" and it was plenty fast. Fast enough to put me down on 56 . I'm looking at both the BMW 1150/1200 and the KTM 990's. The KTM seems to be a better fit for me since some of the riding I expect to do will have some dirt thrown in. Plus the KTM seems a little more "sporty". I don't think I could go wrong with either really.

Somehow I have a much easier time seeing you on they KTM 990 vs the BMWs. Went buy a couple dealers to look at the klx and we. The Yam I seems like the better bike. Both look like they will need bigger tanks. Looks like I will just need to be patient until one comes up for sale.
