I know that. The only person I have ever stabbed was myself so I figured this would be a safer alternative for me.

Seriously, I've been looking for a chopper and have lusted after the Golok since the first time seeing it. I know that there are cheaper options out there, but a man has to treat himself every once in awhile.

Any opinions on the Fallkniven F1? For general use while motocamping. Is it big enough?

The blade is 3.8", which is a good size, very usable VG10 steel
Ballistic sheath can save you a lot of pain.
The price is real good not to expensive which means you will use it more like a tool.

The FF1 is a well known good knife, no doubt. You can't be disapointed with it.

But there're some nice alternatives out there.

I'm only speaking from experience and this is my own opinion, but I like the Esee 3 or 4 for a general camping/woods knife. They come with a unconditional lifetime warranty that will replace the knife if for some reason you manage to break it. They can also be had for less money than the F1.

Esse's are great knifes, wouldn't mind owning one. The 1095 steel can really hold an edge. It is not stainless steel and will require that you clean and dry the blade after each use, which you should do anyway. The good side is that it has great edge holding properties. I have a 1095 Nessmuk copy purchased on ebay, I had to sharpen it and it's my main camping knife (rv'in). It's great for cutting on a cutting board and because it's so inexpensive you don't worry about scratching it up. If you plan to carry while riding a leather sheath can be dangerous if you fall on it. I keep a old Buck Woodsman in my panniers, right on top where I can get to it. Also look into D2 blade mat'l. it's called ''the poor man stainless''.

Ain't that the truth, I'm my own worst enemy sometimes.
I like that Golok and their machete, disposable income is the
drawback. I bought a Swamp Rat Waki a while back, so maybe
a Golok will be next.

I've been lusting after this knife from Bark River. It's the STS-5 model.
