Electro-etching. I just started doing it... the idea is that you make the blade the cathode (+), and have an anode (-) holding a electrolyte solution in a cotton swab or something similar, and you use DC current to burn out the design. The label simply provides the template, a "resist", and steel is removed to create the mark.

So it's electrolysis in a very concentrated area?

Are all Bokers made in China?

I'm interested in a Rhino, and the site I looked at didn't indicate it was made in China, but the Subcom did say "Made in China".

Rhino on top, Subcom below.

I've got the SOG Flash I in black with partial serrated for every day as Boston law limits you to 2.5" blade in city limits. The "SOG Assisted Technology" is very impressive at opening the blade in a hurry with minimal effort.
No, the rope cutter is very well protected. You don't want the knife coming open in the pocket though and poking yourself in the goods....

I have two of their knives, and both were made in Germany.

Welp - I got a Boker back when AngryScot posted that lil' thing... mine has stag handles and purdy red liners... an' it was made in China.

Since then I found a nicer stag handled knife w/blue liners and nifteh file work. Fits the lederhosen purrfectly. Now they're both in the safe, while the lil Mac Tool knife and the CRKT get daily use.

United Gil Hibben IV Machete 11-3/4" Carbon Steel Blade and Leather Sheath

$44.95

I ordered it. I'll let you know if I like it if it ever gets here. 12 days to go from MD to Iowa. USPS would have been faster.
