I received a Buck Strider Tarani as a gift... What a beautiful, functional, solid knife... It is absolutely solid and the quality is amazing...
I need to find the cable for my camera rather than have you suffer with cell phone pics... I hope to get that found soon. One of the best knifes I have owned... love it... and it is this threads fault. Particularly this video... Mine is the combo blade with the partial serrations. I would have preferred the one in the video but I am delighted to own this one. I can't get over how fast it opens, how smooth it transitions and how solid it locks open...

Question for those in the Know
I got a hold of a Timberline SpecWar some years ago. It was suposedly (like every other big knife) a contender to be a Seal Knife but wasn't chosen.
The thing that I can't figure out is the reason for the way the sheath was put together. A little net surfing revealed that I am not alone, there were mentions of not many still having the original 'harness' because they got chopped off.  http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a423/Fire_Escape/SpecWar001-1.jpg  http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a423/Fire_Escape/SpecWar002.jpg I can (mostly) understand the 'belthanger' part, by unclipping a fastex buckle and velcro tab, the knife and sheath can be removed from the belt without unthreading the 'hanger' from the belt. The leg straps are not nearly long enough for my fat thighs but were probably fine for a real warrior. It is the way that the rest of the attachment of nylon to kydex is made that 'baffles' me.  The 2" webbing drops from the fastex buckle, goes inside the back of the sheath (against the blade - anti rattle?), comes out half way down, passes under the 'tip' of the sheath to the front, inserts into a slot in the third layer of kydex (which seems to be there only for attachment purposes), comes back out 1 1/4" up, inserts into another slot (still going up the front) and comes out another 1 1/4" up where it rolls over and goes back down to where it velcros around the sheath. Clear as mud, right? The velcro'd band that passes around the sheath will slide up and down between the leg strap tabs easily, if you work all the webbing through the slots so that the velcro is tight against the upper tabs and it no longer slides, then the whole sheath and knife drop enough that the snap retainer strap (there is also an integral knife retainer in the sheath) is above the top of the handle so it doesn't work anymore. I'd welcome the knowledge of how this is all supposed to work. Someone put a lot of effort into designing it but ..... why? Bruce
