+1 to Smithy, they all appear to have the hard sheath. I've got the BK3 and I badly want the 2, 9, and 11 as well. If anyone knows of a better source than Amazon, let me know. Ready to buy.

Side note, this beauty was pretty enough to get me to email Mr. Ralph:

Anyone want to hazard a guess at the cost? Truly a piece of art, priced accordingly.

Don't think I've posted this one yet.

This is Pat Crawford's "Casper" as a presentation model. The blade and bolsters are stainless damascus and the handle scales are mammoth tooth:

This pic is as much "photochop" as photograph. I've owned the knife for quite some time but could never find an appropriate background for an image. Finally, one day I decided to search the net for something suitable and cut out the knife from a photo I took of it against a white paper background.

That is why this place is so cool, that thing is fucking ugly as hell, to ME
But we all have different taste and it is nice to see something outside my taste range, diversity we haz it
Saw these in SF on union street in a little fancy Italian gift store

the store behind the blunt tip is apparently there was a ban on knifes with sharp tips, so folks just snapped off the tip, but then became a design thing. No clue how true that is.
Sweet cow horn handles though IMHO

Ah, I remember that model. I think it's a Model 68 -made in L.A. It was a popular low-cost (by Balisong standards) production knife. Even the rivets weren't filed on those. Came in both the weehawk and tanto blade.

I used to work knife shows for Balisong back around that time. When I say "work" I mean standing in a booth at knife shows flipping butterfly knives all day long. Back then there were a few good gun and knife shows in the L.A. area and Les De Asis would pay us to sell knives directly to the public. I ended up with a decent collection of knives such as yours, but also a beautiful handmade custom by Jody Sampson, who was working for Bali at the time. I remember Les and his wife Roberta as really nice people. Then these knives became illegal to sell in CA and Les moved his operation to Oregon and changed the name of the company to Benchmade. Those were some good times back then. I'll dig up the Sampson knife and post it here.

Good guess, a bit out of my budget :).

On the plus side, there are a few of his design from the same series, though not nearly as fancy, on Amazon in the $40 range. Anyone have one? Liking the look of this one.

Well, I cheated a bit. I own three of DR's knives and have a deposit on a fourth to be delivered this summer

The Meyerco doesn't list the blade steel anywhere - never a good thing (likely 420J2)

I like those fixed blades. Especially the Kabar one up. I'll have to follow up on that.

As art in titanium its very pretty.
As a tool? I agree with you.
I carry a spyderco rescue (that I bought from an inmate) daily. And have an Izula3 on its way for my new backpacking knife because of YFF's in this thread.
But the blade on that thing is brilliant.
