Tell me where to go.

Looking for info on where to go/what to see in the general area of Carolina's/Georgia/Tennessee.
I have a couple of weeks for exploration/discovery before landing in BHam for Vintage Days.
Traveling through these areas on a Brick RS, out of Alaska. What I have in mind is locating clean/secure campgrounds and using them as base camps. The idea being day trips from those central hubs.
So whata ya got???
What roads?
What campgrounds?
What are your favorites spots?
What should I not miss?
Made my initial visit last year and barely scratched the surface of this fantastic area. Did the Dragon, Southern BRH, etc.

Don't necessarily need the most technical/ wear ya out kinds of roads but will listen to all local inmate suggestions.
Bike is packed and heading your way soon.
Thank you in advance.

The first page of the Tales from East TN thread has some links that might help. Be sure to play around in the D.O.G. thread for all things North GA. The DOG thread is huge and may take a bit.

There have been some other threads like yours and here's what folks had to say:

Ok HELP me guys! Wife and I plan to ride
Maggie Valley Recommended Rides
Maggie Valley Accommodations
Dual Sport Trails - Deals Gap
Tellico Area
Cherohala and the Smokies (some external links in there that are good)

Happy riding!

camping areas:

Two Wheels of Suches- great roads in the area, great facilities, great folks.

Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground- near Waynesville NC. again, some great riding, good place to camp and good folks.

Tellico Plains- I can't think of the name off the top of my head, but find somewhere to camp around there.

Boone NC area- I stayed at Riders Roost years ago but might be worth checking out, or see if anyone has more up to date info. close to the blue ridge parkway, little switzerland, etc.

just about any road you hit out of these camping areas is going to be good. :)

That has already been scheduled for WTT.
Spent 2 days there last year.
Going back!

Same with the campgrounds mentioned.
I did some quick research before last year's adventure..... and covered (lightly) a lot of the well documented spots.
You folks have some stunning moto-roads.
There is a reason the bike didn't go back to Anchorage.
This run should allow enough flexibility on where and for how long.

I know the reluctance of sharing cool spots/rides /hideouts here on the InnerWebs.
I won't tell anyone.

Quaint mom/pop hotels and campgrounds suggestions really appreciated.
Seems to me finding cool roads should not be a problem.

Are state campgrounds seasonal?
Do they have showers?

Talk to me.

Not sure if this is close enough to your final destination for you to consider - Hungry Mothers State Park in VA has good campgrounds and freaking great riding.

Cardens Bluff campground on Watauga Lake is a very nice one if you like waterfront sites, most of them are waterfront.

Lots of great riding nearby. "The Snake" Hwy 421 between Mountain City, TN & Bristol TN/VA is popular. Not far from Boone/Blowing Rock & the BRP. Roan Mtn. is nice. Grandfather Mtn (fee) is really beautiful, The back roads are all great, just depends on how twisty you prefer. (I'd be happy to PM my faves) Can also tell you about good food in the area.
