This Just In....
A motorcycle driver was killed this afternoon after he collided with a car pulling out of a nursing home parking lot off Holloway Street, the state Highway Patrol said.
Patrick S. Moore, 38, of Durham died at about 3 p.m. today on the 3400 block of Holloway Street, in front of the Durham Ridge Assisted Living Center. Investigators declined to comment on how fast Moore's eastbound motorcycle was traveling when it struck the driver’s side of a Dodge Neon attempting to turn left on to Holloway Street. However, Sgt. K.G. Brown of the state Highway Patrol said the motorcycle’s rate of speed and the inattentiveness of the car's driver pulling into traffic both may have played roles in the fatal accident. Troopers are still investigating. Moore died at the scene of the accident after landing about 120 feet from the point of impact. The woman driving the car, who was not identified, was taken to Duke Hospital. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, Brown said. That's a real bummer for the hollerdaze... |
