Yep, an by mountain TV you mean the Chelton EFIS? Also nice that ADS-B is on the glass at Anchorage center because we have "radar" coverage to the deck where transponder aircarft need to be 10000 or higher for coverage. So we can get direct routing at 6000ft. The Chelton is also the only system approved for the special R-routes that let you fly ifr enroute below terrain. Now just need some good weather on my days off to go explore the 2k miles of road on the island.

Interesting use of technology. You must have the lower than standard ILS mins for KTN to make the system worthwhile. That's a trip landing to the south in heavy rain when its blowing 35 at the airport and the wind at 55+ coming over the ridge a few miles out. Spending all that money for the engine STC you'd figure they'd go for the TKS mod, too.

Sweeet! That would be just the thing for hauling skydivers.

Glad you liked it

Here's a follow up for you - How to start a P-51

It doesn't seem that bad to me, but then again my co-workers think it's a complicated thing to start my V-Star because there's more to it than inserting and turning a key

Heh, the MQ-9 reaper uses the TPE331-10

i just noticed the 4-blade prop on that C208 (after seeing the picture several times). When I was flying Caravans 15 years ago, we had 2 versions. One had 600 hp and the other had 675 hp. There were composite props on some of them and metal props on others. The best combo was the big engine and the metal prop, the weakest was the small engine and composite prop.

neither version was much good once you got a good load of ice built up.

Maybe this mod will solve that problem.

Caravans are pretty fun airplanes but no more new Caravans with the 600 shp engines...gee, I wonder why? DOG? Oh, yeah. Flew the 675 shp along the equator & equator/mountains, 13 pax, STC for a gross weight increase = big dog - thankfully, virtually no ice. I think now you now have to subtract a substantial amount of the useful load for flying in ice. Upping the power about 30% has got to help. Might have a higher flat rating too. The 331's always seem to do better at altitude than the P&W, and about 10% less fuel burn for the same power. The question is; I wonder how's the din in the cabin when taxiing around?

Yep, empty, 1/4 fuel, and say 5 degrees F. Flew a SA227 Metroliner in conditions like that, after takeoff from a 300 AGL airport, downwind abeam we were nudging 10,000 ft. Seen an empty old dog 747-200 on a 300nm leg do something just about the same, probably better. I was always blown away when reading about an old tech century series fighters, EG a unloaded clean F105, normal climb profile of 450KIAS and getting 20,000-25,000 feet per minute. Flying empty, while fun, doesn't pay the bills though.
