muguvian's photo of the fighters chasing a test tomahawk cruise missile made me want to post this photo.

This is where I used to work years ago. These are Advanced Cruise Missiles (ACM) in the final assembly room. This was at General Dynamics, San Diego.
I wrote software that planned the missions (SIOP) for these. Sounds all glamorous and stuff, it wasnt really, the funny part was knowing that if these baby's ever flew, it meant global nuclear war was occurring!
At the time this photo was taken this photo was classified.

The wings on these are swept forward to reduce the radar cross section (stealthy)

New Years Flight to Sedona

My neighbor has been asking me for the past few years to fly with him. New Years eve he asked again if we wanted to fly down to Sedona for a pot luck lunch in one of the hangers. Too much snow to ride...OK.

RTGirl gets ready to co-pilot.

We have had a ton of snow here over the past few weeks and its really put a damper on our December riding.

Sedona is a short 25 mile flight south.

Oak Creek Canyon

Sedona airport is on a mesa.

Turning on to final...

There is a lot of activity here on this beautiful New Years day.

Our host, one of those good old boys with way too much money.

A buddy a few hangers down showing off his shit. I can only imagine whats in all those other hangers.

A little too much food and its time to head home...

Don't talk to me I'm flying the fucking plane.

Nope, it's the new thing: missile escort.

See the pods with the blade antennae? Command destruct or manual override should we need to divert. The QF-4s in the T&E squadrons did double duty as targets (No Live Operator, or NOLOs) as well as manned chase aircraft.

I was at a floatplane fly-in this summer at Anjigami Lake near Wawa, Ontario. The fly-in was well attended for a first year event. A total of about 20 planes participated. Here are a few pics from a memorable time.

A Lake flying boat flying by.

A Rans homebuilt on amphib floats. It performed very well.

An Aviat Husky taxis to tie up at shore on the sandbar we were all parked at.

This is the nicest privately owned Beaver I have ever seen. On amphib floats.

I hope to go to the same fly-in again this coming summer. Its like a bike rally except the noise is different. Yup, pilots are wise crackers too.
