The rest if the plane is for sale... Belongs to my neighbor. These were extra parts he had in his garage that are in sorta rough shape. The plane needs some work and his eyes are getting bad so they decided to sell the plane and get rid of the junky parts. Thinking I'm going to hang the nose on the wall in my classroom, make it look like a plane crashed into it.

You'll put your eye out with that.....

I figure I had better sign in on this thread. I've just been lurking so far.

I signed up for flight lessons a couple of weeks ago and I now have a whopping 2.5hrs of flight time. Yay!
This is going to get expensive, but you gotta do what you gotta do :)

No you don't . Its a very "short coupled" airplane. I found it twitchy in all 3 flight axis. Go to the NTSB search and type in BD5 for incidents and accidents and get back with us.

Deadly or not, I'd take a screaming Narwhal any day of the week.

I don't think so. That is not a BD-5, it is an LH-10 Ellipse.

Did a demo jump onto the beach yesterday. There is no better way to get to the beach than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane

What altitude was that photo taken at, around 12,000-13,000ft? 40+ years piloting planes and I'll admit I'd be scared shitless to jump out of one. The closet I can imagine is doing a tandem jump with an instructor who pushes me out of the door.

13,000 it is nice and cool up there so we leave the door open in the summer.

I think everybody especially pilots should at least do 1 tandem. I have been jumping for 20 years but still remember my first jump. I fly and jump so the best of both worlds for me . I still remember the look on my CFI's face when asked what I would do if we had an engine failure right now "I said open the door and unass the plane" I got a fail for emergency procedures that day!
