Hamilton flying museum's Lancaster overflew us earlier today. Sounded like it was being flown with more power than normal. Never heard it make that much noise in the past.

That's my friends plane! I posted up some pics of it a while back in this thread. He owns an ag operation and this is his first year there. He was having some oil temp issues but thinks he's got them ironed out with some ducting changes.

We probably averaged 15 large passenger aircraft a day plus a wide variety of cargo flights. 90% of that fuel was brought here from Russia. I'm gonna say it probably had more to do with the type of fuel rather than the cost. Most Western jet aircraft use JP-4, JP-5 or JP-8, with the UK or Commercial equivilant of DERD or GOST.

These fuels all have a specific gravity, and the engine fuel system must be metered for it.

The Russians use their own version, generally TS-1 or RT. This could explain them tankering it in.

If we want to use their fuel in our planes (military), we can only use it if JP-8 or other alternative fuels are not available, as well as having to add certain additives.
