Few more pics from today, got to fly with Killer B (b25) again this morning.

AND!!!!!! Got to meet Vietnam ace Brig General Steve Ritchie! Super nice guy!

96 year old Harold Reid. He was a TBM pilot off the USS Princeton (CVL-23) light carrier in 1943 in the Pacific. I believe he said he was shot down at some point in the war while flying the TBM. The Princeton was sunk in October of 1944. (and thats me up on the wing giving cockpit tours to the public)

I went through Surival School in Spokane in '69 with a Colonel on his way to relieve Robin Olds as commander of the 555 TFS. He was a WWII Ace, who was shot down twice behind enemy lines, escaping both times, once on a troop train (he said). He was an ace again in F-86's in Korea, and was headed to SEA to lead F-4's.

In the survival school scenario, he was the ranking guy. He smuggled a double ration of meat in for our group, and then managed an escape that got 4 guys out. They "took him out and shot him". Never saw him again. I suspect they made him an advisor.

That photo looks like a engine-airframe spray certification test - and it passes. If it stayed in the big puddle I bet that was a pucker like takeoff roll.

Nope, that was a "holy crap there is a bunch of water on the runway and we are hydroplaning" kodak-moment.

There were literally two trucks worth of parts and pieces left on the runway after it took off. As I understand it, one of the APU's was ripped out of it's housing.

Luckily it was an "M" model and had the power it needed to lift. If they had rejected the T/O, it would have been really, really ugly.

Trying to figure this out. Best bet so far is Vermont Garrison.
