This looks like it was from the movie.

Nah...see the tire tracks in the foreground from the four wheeled vehicle making a turn to the right. Scale looks about right...assuming that they didn't fake those!

That B 17 may be coming on for a landing, with no gear,
it looks like the glass nose is also damaged.

Smithsonian Udvar Hazy Center will soon be finished with the complete restoration of their Helldiver (paint going on then final assembly). Once that is complete, the B-26 Marauder "Flak Bait" will be brought into the restoration hanger where it will receive some type of restoration (wether a ground-up or "arresting" style is being argued) to prepare it for display.

Should be interesting.

"It's an art installation from 2011: “The Cuban artist collective Los Carpinteros is showing three large-scale installations at Buenos Aires’s Faena Arts Centre in May. They have created a new site-specific sculpture especially for the arts centre’s 700 sq ft “Sala Molinos” exhibition space and are also installing two earlier works—a Piper Comanche single-prop plane pierced by arrows and a sprawling shantytown neighbourhood built entirely from corrugated cardboard.""

I gather the message of hat piece is the indigenous one's outrage of the western capitalist "man" building an airplane and appropriating another indigenous people's name for the opressing object. Kind of obvious, really.

But I learned something, it appears to be a Brazillian license built Piper Commanche, one that was made with a fixed landing gear instead of the usual retractable landing gear. I didn't know about that one.

Exint pods, man-carrying pods used to insert or exifiltrate special forces or wounded soldiers were not only tested British Harriers and AH-64 Apache and certified for Israeli AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters.

The concept dates back to World War 2 when “body-bags” or wing-mounted enclosures were tested on British Spitfires as well as Stuka dive bombers and ME 109 fighters. Tests were conducted even in the U.S.

Dan Nelson, a reader of this blog sent us some pictures, reportedly taken in 1944, showing casualty evacuation pods attached to an F-5, the reconnaissance variant of the P-38 Lightining.
