You have to run an airplane engine at high power settings. You have to dump a lot of residual heat.

I earned my private and instrument in this (and several others) Cessna Skyhawk (172R):



I have my tailwheel endorsement and somewhere around 30 hours in command of this fun American Champion Citabria (7GCAA):



Also around 40 hours in this (and two others) Beech Duchess (BE-76) earning my multi and commercial multi certificates:



No pictures of the Piper Lance (PA-32R-300, non-"T" tail model) in which I earned my high-performance signoff and have about 30 hours in command of.

I did all of my training out of KGGG as part of my college degree program. I've flown into KDAL (once in a Skyhawk and once at night in the Duchess), KDTO, and a lot of airports in east Texas and the surrounding area. After my A&P I'm thinking I'm going to move on to flying lessons.

Dunno to what end though.

I initially started to go down the A&P path, but soon switched to flying only--I had no desire to be a career A&P. My wife, on the other hand, stuck it out and has her A&P in addition to the flight ratings. Maybe that's why she's going to the Air Force and I'm stuck in a cube in Las Colinas.
