I decided to become an A&P so that I would be able to pay for becoming a pilot. Some day, soon hopefully. (I'm only 20 though, I've got time )So which school are you going to?

It's a neat occupation. I was able to apprentice in a little GA FBO while I was in school. Got to learn alot about Beechcraft and enough about cessna's to know that I want to make a living working on something else All that to say that I am acctually very glad I became an A&P and have been enjoying more than I expected I would. (It's still work, but you might as well enjoy it.) Good luck and have fun .

Those nose wheel Beech 18's (I can't remember the designation) were modified from the taildragger config to the nose wheel config. I don't know what the reason was but I'm quite sure it was an aftermarket mod. Probably had to do with easier operating. Taildragger versus nose wheel.
The guys I spoke too seemed to like the re-engined Beeches. Way less problems in the cold operating a turbine and better reliability with the turbines in a harsh environment. I like the Beech 18, it's a classic. I believe the Queen Air was the forerunner to the King Air. Thats was a piston aircraft but I don't believe they were re-engined to turbines. Garrett Quote:

Best air museum close to Grand Canyon?
Hi Folks
I'm trying to plan a little get away with my daughter to the Grand Canyon in March and would like to do a side trip to one of the air museums. Being a litle deficient in the area of local geography I would appreciate some advice from you knowledgeable folks reading this thread. My two choices are Calgary to Las Vegas, or Phoenix. I'm guessing Phoenix is the better choice but would appreciate info on the proximity of the canyon and the air museum. Comments on where to stay would be great as well. Thanks Garrett P.S. I promise I'll post my pictures. I'm really enjoying this thread. The pics of the warbirds are great. The Police helicopter shots are cool as well.

There's a Queen Air sitting in front of one of the hangars here and it's still got radials. I don't recall ever seeing one that had turbines.
Garrett, I should have read the whole thread before I pm'd you. I see you did fly with Willie's Bandits. Chances are we've crossed paths. Bruce |
