Looks like the AT can carry 820 lbs of fire water in the floats. Or 800 lbs of retardant in a bomb bay type of configuration. Very cool tool for close quarters and rapid response.

They are also working on another type of 'tool' for a different type of 'fire.

I wish more people appreciated the space program these days. I got to witness the launch of STS 85 when I was a kid at only 3 miles distant from the pad. What an incredible experience!

Those fire planes are cool looking.
I've never seen an ag plane on floats, like that before.

My goal for next year is to see the last shuttle launch.

On the bottom of the right pontoon is a retractable tube that pulls in the water. The tank sits directly in front of the pilot (you can see the bare fiberglass tank in one of my pics). It holds 800 gallons. Nothing goes in the pontoons on the one I shot. The plane is also equipped with an infa-red camera so the pilot can pinpoint hot spots through the smoke and more precisely dump the water.

Looks like a minigun on the left wing, a couple small bombs underneath and 2 rocket pods...

Now that the specs have been posted on it I can see the second one... I wasn't sure of the one on the right wing as it almost looked like a sensor or something.

You know, I think that Air Tractor has a pretty compelling story for the AT-802U. Maybe it could be the new bird dog.
