HOLY SHITBALLS! The dude riding the prop on landing was great!

Keeps reminding me that Alaska has never stopped calling for me. Always wanted to go. If my current job goes tits up, I just might say the hell with it and go. Not much here for me anyhow.

Those Alaska STOL competitions are great. I saw about 3 of Paul Claus's aircraft in that video. I had the pleasure of spending an unannounced afternoon with Paul at his Ultima Thule lodge/airstrip last summer when our bush plane (Palatius PT-6 non-turbine) picked us up from a glacier but couldn't get us back due to very low ceilings.

Paul was a heck of a nice guy, that C-180 he's flying in that video was sitting out in his "front yard" when I was there. As was the Turbine Otter. I'll post pictures if I can dig them up. For those of you who are interested, you should check out his website:

Thanks for posting. When we were working in Alaska in 04 we say some pretty cool Cubs. One fellow had installed an extra set of wings that attached to the main gear pick ups. They extended out to where the wing strut attached to the wing and had a strut tying it all together

Oh for sure. I think that STC came out a couple year ago. And if you'll buy that, I have some ocean from property in Arizona...

Not everything has to be STC'd.

In some cases you just need a field approval.

Tragically my Uncle, an Annapolis grad, ran out of sky during advance fight training in the F8F. I read a letter he wrote to my Grandmother a week before, he said it was a magnificent airplane and likened it to riding a lighting bolt. Thanks for the video.
