Not so much piles any more. Now they are just chat rooms. Hence Littlefoot's interest.

Anyone interested in a very well kept KTM990 Adventure?

I grew up next to all of them in Picher and spent my time on my dirtbikes all over those things. With my luck I'll probably come down with lung cancer at 40 because of it.

Most of the land belonged to the indian tribes (BIA) and they closed it off. The BIA would also make a feeble attempt to stop you if you crossed over into it. They're still very closed.

For a while there were pretty big crowds on the weekends at the two chatpiles on highway 69 (called Skeleton and Lawyer). There were even parts trucks rolling up selling stuff.

My Dad took my brother and I over there (uesd to live in SW MO) several times. It was a blast tearing around there on three wheelers, had to watch what hill you climbed though as sometimes the backside was gone! Good times!

Toxic...are you sure!

That area was one dangerous place...sink holes that you would throw rocks in and never hear them land. The all time stupid thing we did was climb down in the shafts...there were two places that actually had ladders attached where you could go down into the mines...and yes we were that stupid...explored all over under aprox 60 feet of earth in the shafts! Also, many/many/many keg parties at the flats...at the foot of the piles! What a great place to grow up in the 60's-70's!

I keep waiting for the health effects of breathing that crap...I glow on occasion...but nothing serious yet!

Sorry no help on the mechanic but congrats on the new ride. It's always nice to see the neighborhood improve with the addition of a nice bike!

Saw a gnarly KLR on the strip in Stillwater today at lunchtime. Belong to any inmate on here?

It was a DIY special complete with ammo can panniers, a wire mesh tail basket, and diamondplate aluminum radiator guards.
