Jack and I headed out early today to beat the heat. It was still hot as hell. At lunch, we had an interesting exchange with out waitress. After telling us that her boyfriend is going to buy a Harley, she looked at our gear and said "I bet that's really hot, but at least it will keep you from getting road rash". Smart girl.

Saw it to the north as we were just getting to Hot Springs. And another huge one toward Ft Smith about the time we got back to Muskogee(dark). Just a couple of drops on the visor. Thought to myself, "That wouldnt be to bad, just a little shower to cool me off"...But considering the clip we were doing, and the lean angles in the turns, it was propably for the best.

Never even saw any wet pavement.

I've just come come back from 1350 miles in 2 days and my butt hurts like hell. Shower didn't help... I'm thinking long bath with some salts

Roanoke, VA to Asheville, NC on Blue Ridge Parkway, then superslab I40 to Knoxville, TN then again to Crossville, TN on I40. Then backroads to Memphis, TN (through Sparta, Murfreesboro, Lawrenceburg, Savannah etc.). Next superslab all the way to Tulsa.

Pix to follow.

Looking forward to it, Tomski. Doing the eastward route in about two weeks but farther south. We have stops in Memphis and Savannah planned, though.

My thoughts about Tennessee:

I thought Savannah, TN on Tennessee River would be at least a shadow of it's sister town in Georgia. Well, I was wrong... not worth stopping.
Hwy 64 is under construction through most of western Tennessee (and it's a bloody long state).

Crazy speed limits like 45MPH on a super empty 4 lane divided highway
Nobody cares about speed limits... I40 speeds are 80-90 MPH. I followed a group of cars including a TN State Trooper for almost an hour doing 90 MPH

Out of the blue you can meet a couple from New Zealand riding a Harley on Natchez Trace Parkway

People think that my "Okie accent" sounds European.

The ride:

The Road:

The views:

Yeah, I know a Polak who lives in Oklahoma, riding a bike from Florida, bought from a dude in Virginia for a friend who doesn't even has a license... long story to explain to a cop. .... Oh and no "chicken strip" here I'm getting on better terms with Ms Gravity and I try to trust her a bit more every time I ride.

Got Bugs?

The above documented infestation of flying beasts forced me to make an unscheduled overnight stop just east of Little Rock, Ar... It took about 20 miles to cover the visor almost completely

I left Little Rock just before 6 AM and with one more fuel stop I made it home by 9:30 thanks to a friendly Fed in a Homeland Security Tahoe who didn't mind being followed at 90-100 MPH rate

I may have some more pix from a chase vehicle

Cheers,

Not quite as well as 954 - 120 lbs more dry weight and 40 hp less

It's very very stable. I was surprised how steady it feels when passing semis.
It gets a bit shaky over 140 mph (it's pretty close to it's top speed - 150). It may have been the road or my hands . It corners like it's on rails and I can only imagine what it can do in the hands of an experienced rider.

I am planning on catching the TAT in Central AR and riding to north of Tulsa. At that point I am looking for and ADV route back to Harrison AR.

If you can help with routing back east in the direction of Harrison AR I would appreciate it. I will be on a 650 X-Ch.

drtim@fidnet.com

Best,
Tim

You looking for sight seeing, or quick slab? Dirt? Curvy asphault, etc? You needing a place to camp? What are your goals? I have bunches of suggestions, but would really like to suggest what you want.

Dirt.......with a place to camp..

My goals are basically to see the best country between Tulsa and Harrison and of course get back to Harrison. My reason for the trip is to see the TAT and meet your All STAR.........Vinnie the Snake...
