As if the last two days worth of riding weren't enough (Never enough!)... I woke up this morning needing more. I started to head south but for some strange reason the bars were pulling to the west. I don't ever recall going any further west on 50 than where 57 drops to the south, so away I went to go wander around BigDog's territory and do some exploring in Illinois. The main goal was just to plunk away about 100 miles out and then head back. Well, 100 miles put me right about at Olney, IL. I wandered around the area looking for attractions but there didn't seem to be much there that caught my eye so I filled the tank and headed back east....

On the way back I stopped to check out this park. Pretty cool lookin' place. May have to take the kids camping there someday...

Then a bit down the road I thought I was exiting 50 to go see some really cool airplane museum or something. It ended up being just an airport. Seen a really cool collection of military trucks there. I dunno the whole story behind this place but it was a really nice day out to just ride to destinations unknown, so all was not lost...

I was hoping to be able to wander north up the road along the Wabash River on the Illinois side but I couldn't figure out how to get down off of 50 to get to it without backtracking a bunch of miles. If I had the XR, I probably coulda just dove off the side of the road, down through the woods and found my way to it. I didn't think the FJR would appreciate the carnage as much as the XR so I stuck to the road and kept heading east.

I did manage to find something good (other than another 225 miles of great riding today) A day of riding just isn't complete without this....

I found that tasty ice cream in Vincennes at this place

All in all, I accomplished both goals that I set out to do today. Go for a ride and eat ice cream. All is completely right with the world now

Different kind of adrenaline rush...

I didn't know if any of my fellow inmates would be interested or have even seen/heard about this so I just thought I'd toss this out as an invite to come along... This Sunday, April 1st we're heading down to tackle the underground zip-line tour at the Louisville Mega Caverns. Unless it's pouring rain, we're gonna meet up at the Speedway gas station on the corner of Route 37S & 50 just south of Bedford and leaving @ Noon to ride bikes down. You can buy your tickets online @

http://www.louisvillemegacavern.com/...zip-tours.html

I am signed up for the 3:30pm tour and as of this morning there are 8 spots left in that time slot. There are still plenty of spots left before & after that time slot too but I'm sure they probably fill up quick. It should turn out to be a hoot! I've never been on any sort of zip-line like this and am pretty much giddier than a nun in a cucumber patch! I'll probably take my boot cam with me. Should be some neat footage! So, come on... let's go let-er-rippppppp!!

We've been doing some riding in the SE Indiana area and a good backroad route could easily be put together to make a day of getting there. Camping will be available and motels are in good supply nearby because of King's Island.

This is gonna be a good one. Be there!!!

I've been to one of these and it's a cruiser fest for sure. Lot's of pirates there. :) Lot's of drunk women too.
