Welcome to the next tag.

The Indians believed these waters held medicinal powers.

This location actually contains nine separate springs rich in minerals. Your nose will quickly tell you that you are in the right location.

Minerals like:

red sulphur
white sulphur
sweet sulphur
freestone
limestone
chalybeate

This is an image of the same location in 1855:

And yet another image of the location in 1874:

In the early 1800s the area was given the name Saratogo of the South

The area was purchased by J.W. & Mack Sloss in 1887, who operated the Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham.

This image is of the original highway that was featured in Hotshot’s tag earlier.

In 1888 the population reached 3000 in this popular summer health resort.

When you see this sign you are very close.

The TAG is located just south of the sign.

This grand hotel once stood on the corner diagonal of the sign.

That is one of the things you see more of along some of these back roads we travel. I do not understand how people can do this to such nice places in the woods and back country locations.

Nice info on the new location! Looks like another sweet spot to learn more about the area.

OK, So I could have been there last night, if I had only gone a short distance more, but I found the pull off without the need to go past it and turn around.

Yankee Dog and Bratso took me there for a bike night a while back. Is the bike shop still there?

To bad the bike is in the shop for the next few days, just had to do it, they could not get me in each time I got there, something about me wanting to wait for it to get done

they could not do it for me that way, so it has to be in their shop for a day or two, oh well, thems the breaks or was that the seals.

I was there two weeks ago. Looked like a flat spot up on the hill to the left as you come down the dirt road. I wonder if that is where the gazebo was?

Was the old bass boat still in the creek? What a shame! I was also disapointed to see all the graffiti at Bangor Cave.

It's amazing what people will sit in. As I was surveying the area, I couldn't imagine soaking in that.
