No XM Radio, just a dressed up Nuvi in a waterproof case. I'll keep my 550....

That has to be an omission on the press release. No XM? I don't believe that... Come on...

Check the specs, no XM. Its just a NUVI, the 550 is still the king. Heck, I'd rather have a 2730 than this new 660...at least it had the XM with it.

The 24k topo flash cards (where available) from Garmin are killer. Unlike the 100k Topo CD you can actually navigate offroad with them. Very sweet. You still have to exercise some judgement. My Zumo has pointed me down some legitimate dirt bike black diamond trails while on my GS.

how is the sound out of the 550?

Its my understanding that the 550 does not have A2DP for bluetooth stereo.

SO the 660 has this and can play mp3's.

Thanks

The 660 is on Garmin's site;

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=135&pID=15000

No XM (according to the specs), which I'm disappointed with, but if the BT and music capabilities are better than the 550 (incl. >1000 internal songs, WMA support), then I may take the plunge. If the BT works well, I could probably get most XM via PDA Phone and the web. MSRP is $150 less than the 550, too.

It looks like you still need the seperate antenna for MSN Direct. Does anyone know if any of the antennas like the GDB50 require a seperate activation fee for MSN Direct, or is it built into the price of the antenna?

Also, are they waterproof?

550 Sound is terrific is you have decent earbuds (I use BigEar customs, but also have ER6i's as backups). Its stereo when hardwired.

If you want Bluetooth, you can put a stereo dongle in the output jack and use J&R's Bluetooth helmet stereo kit, but its pricey and you have that module on you helmet, and also have to recharge it. The Hardwire to the earbuds is no biggie, just buy a 4' coiled extension cord from Riders Warehouse, connect one end to your 550 and route it to the front edge of the seat. Install your earbuds, put on your helmet, and drop the cord down the front inside of your jacket. Reach down and the seat edge and hook up.

Both the 550 and 660 can play MP3's with an SD card installed they will 'see' up to 1,000 tunes and no more, so don't bother buying more than a 2 Gig CD card.

I use this

http://www.amazon.com/Sonorix-Blueto...521872&sr=8-34

with some er6is,, feed via bluetooth A2DP stereo from a motorola phone w755,, seems to work fine

I would like one device for GPS, xm, mp3 and bluetooth stereo,,, may be the next release of the zumo

This is good news=
the 550 will drop in price.

I've held off buying a 550 in anticipation of this event.
How low will it go???
