Thanks guys, I ordered some adhesive heat wrap for the underside of the rear plastic. Its putting off a lot of heat, not sure how the factory plastic will handle it. On a stock bike the cooler is at risk during a crash, the cycle racks protects it well. Going to try and put some miles on it and see what's doin'.

I'm looking at a 2008. Are there any known issues with this year model. Someone made a comment earlier about, "2006-07 you'll probably get a leaky base gasket, due to improper material".

Thanks!

Thanks men! I went ahead and bought it. A 2008 with 940 miles, never been offroad for $1,900. I think I did pretty good.

You stole it. Congrats. What part of the country are you in? That really is an amazing deal.

Not far from you, I'm in New Market, Alabama, which is a little north east of Huntville. It was one of those things that I saw it a few hours after he posted it on Craigslist. I drove 2.5 hours to Tuscaloosa and bought it. I was thinking something must be wrong with this or maybe it was stolen. But the guy was super nice and seemed legit. Plus the DMV registered it no problem this morning. Rode it some this afternoon since I really am a bike noob. I had my neighbor look it over, who is really into motorcycles and he said it looks great. We did have to tighten the chain a little.

I was on the fence about which dual sport to get, although I was leaning TW200. The price on this one made the decision for me! It really should have been around $2,800 for this area I'm guessing.

Thanks!

oil filter

On my 09,the original oil filter was smooth mesh on the outer circumference....bought a new Yamaha filter, part # 5HO 13440 09,....and the outer portion is a pleated mesh...I presume Yamaha redesigned the filter media?.And yes,it has four slots with four corresponding holes. On some searches ,I've noticed some part numbers have a "00" after the 09 in the part number. TIA

I realize that you probably mean performance mods, but I did order a Ricochet skid plate since 90% of the time I will be offroad.

Is there any reason to slap some Krylon paint on the skid plate, or will it just come off? I like to paint everything, but it seems that no one is painting them for some reason.

thanks,
-Kyle

The skid plate takes a beating. I doubt any paint can survive for long on the skid plate. If you want to add some color to the skid plate, you might consider coating it with truck bed liner, or some other, very durable substance.

More so racks, bags, larger foot pegs, other ergonomic improvements.
