My '91 has started puking oil when I ride. Not sure yet from where it is leaking.

Ok, put the carb back together and bike idled sweet as can be but when you give it throttle it is dead...does not die but there is nothing there and takes forever to rev up esp on the road and in third gear.
It actually ran better except for the long warm up when there was no small spring and Pilot jet clogged.
There is no difference in 1/2 throttle and full unless you want to wait then you can fell it surging and gaining rpm.
Will Sea-Foam/colonic it and ride again and still no worky

New Carb

Don't forget to add some sacrificial oil before looking. Good luck.

I'm good on the TW, already got one and it's enough for me lol. I just like the blue fender and headlight mask. Even though I don't have a stock headlight anymore lol

I'm kicking around the idea of financing something inexpensive, to try and give my non-existent credit a boost. The TW200 has caught my eye for some time, and it appears Yamaha still makes them, and they are really pretty cheap.

So my questions are these -

How does this bike do on the road? The fat tires might make it handle funny - "1960's Ford truck with posi and no power steering" funny. What kind of top speed can I expect out of it?

I have a DR650 that flatly refuses to overheat. Can I expect the same thing with the TW200?

Every motorcycle seems to have it's issues - the KLR and the doohickey, the first gen EX500 and the flywheel, the DR650 and the neutral switch... What goofy little issues does the TW have?

Last, and this is a weird one - I have a Yamaha raptor 350 with an awesome engine and a chassis that has seen better days. Has anyone swapped the 350cc six speed engine into a TW?

My TW tops out at 72mph because of crappy aerodynamics. I've hit it on both flat ground and going down hill but couldn't push it 1mph faster.

On hard roads it's perty agile thanks to its rather short wheel base and gearing. I think it would be an awesome urban assault bike, but I live in the sticks so can't vouch for that aspect. It seems to handle like any other thumper I've ridden on the open road. It's just slow, very slow.

I don't know the exact year ranges but the problems were very limited. A couple model years (93-95ish?) has had cdi problems and then 05-07(I think) had bad base gaskets. They are both easy fixes. My 06 has a leaky base gasket and a little silicone can solve that.

There was a BW350 I don't know how related they are to the TW though.

Its ok on the street, its not helped by the stock front tire, which is a poor tire under any situation.

Its not a good as a dr650 or some other plated bore bikes, it can use some oil and run hot if run hard at higher rpm's, but it does not seem to have a weak spot.

The TW is really good at going through swamps and sand, and up hills, in the snow, all at a moderate pace.
Look at a dr200, a crf250 and an xt250 also, they make better street bikes I think.
