Wow, I better start collecting something so someone can make $3.7 million off me when I am dead. Jackalopes...that is what I am going to collect...there is a fortune in Jackalopes.

I've only been down the "road" to Chiva falls a little ways once in my Tacoma a long time ago. Is this road safely doable with a Tiger 800?

Depends on where you go in and mostly, how good a rider you are. We have had a couple guys do it on 1200 HP's, one did a fair amount of damage, one rode it like he was on a 250. I would say if you go slow it is very doable.

Going on to Chiva would be your decision from their and you can gauge it by the ride so far. Heading down to the river would also be a nice turn around point. From there in to Chiva it picks up a bit. I wouldn't recommend going back out the through the Slot, you might be okay coming in this way at about the 7-8 mile marker. Have fun and let us know how it goes. Let's see some photos. Skip |

Happened again!
Some of you may remember a few years ago when a group of us where riding out south and my DR650 pretty much came to a stop and had to be put it the back of Drizzt's pickup. Turned out to be a bug got into the main jet and was starving the engine for fuel.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...ostcount=27651 Riding with my girlfriend last weekend and she started having similar issues with her KLR250. Had to ride the last couple of miles home with the choke on full. Just pulled the carb apart and found basically the same thing. My question is how do these guys make it into the float bowl? Both bikes have good inline fuel filters. The entry point into the float bowl from the overflow circuit is not much bigger than a pin-hole. These guys breed and spawn in gasoline and then grow inside the float bowl waiting for the magic moment to swim upstream into the main jet? Perplexing.... ![]()

Vent hoses! I bought a Honda 450 years ago and the carbs were full of dead maggots. Also had a Honda Z50 with a wasp nest inside the muffler that plugged it up. Bugs will look for any opening to get into.

+1
My XR would only go about a mile before acting like it was running out of fuel a while back. I went through the carbs and tank vent a few times with no luck before I finally ran a stick through the vent hose and pushed out all sorts of bug related gunk. I now have a small fuel filter on the end of the hose. |

I'd probably be in if we rode pretty early...before it gets too hot.
