OK, every odd Thursday, good to know. I work this Thursday, I'm off next Thursday. Hopefully I'll have an odd Thursday off sometime soon.

Are there any regularly scheduled bike nights in Tucson?

I know about the Thursday night Red Garter meet-up, is there one next week? I work midnights, and I think I'm off that Thursday.

I have a SMC and a GSXR, and one of my Co-Workers has a CBRXX, we were wondering if there are any local ride-in bike nights in Tucson for all bikes. I'm a RiderCoach, and I love all kinds of riding, I've done every kind of riding I can think of, from touring, commuting, trackdays, to instructing, and I'm basically looking for a place to ride, have some food, meet some people and relax.

There used to be one almost every night of the week back in Jacksonville, is that something they do around here?

Every other Wednesday night (tomorrow night) there is a Vintage/Classic Bike night at the Barrio Brewery starting 6'ish.

Russ
That sounds cool. I'll have to check that out. Plus if I drive Barrio has decent beer.

John,

I was there from about 6:20 to a little before 7.

I think it's about time to throw out a craigslist notice to see if we can attract from a larger pool of riders and not just ADVrider.

Tis the Summer. Skip and Cathy went to St. George UT to ride. I am going to Flagstaff tonight to ride single track.

No posts of anyone planning to go last night along with a text to Cathy with a reply from Flagstaff indicating they were on their way to Zion took the wind out of our sails...

On another note...

It's been quiet in the mornings so I've had time to gather intel while flying. While doing that I tend to notice lots of places to ride... How about a Deadlier Death in the Desert? An almost 100% dirt loop of Keystone Peak (that's the mountain in the center of 86, 286, Arivaca Road and I-19). We can hit the dirt at Casino del Sol, stop for gas, coffee and emergency medical care in Arivaca and finish up back at CdS.

Looks to be a lot of fun, high speed desert stuff to stay cool in the summer heat. Good variety of rocks, sand, and maybe even some mud.

PhiSig, any chance you can drive the McAfferty Canyon two track from Arivaca Road to the north side of the Las Guijas to see what condition it's in and check for gates? It looks like the north side is really crappy and out of use since the decrease in traffic lately.

Isn't Keystone peak under lock and key (part of the McGee ranch)? And for the record, the only people who have died on "death in the desert" are the ones that bleed orange. It's the long paved ride back to town that gets 'em.

Yes, McGee Ranch isn't an option. Will have to hit Calle Tres, a little pavement up to McGee and then back on the dirt.

No long stretches of pavement.

Brian, do you have any tracks of your official DID route?

My name is Brian, but I'm assuming you're talking to someone else.

I don't think I can make it tonight but tomorrow night I can probably swing it. How far north do you want me to take it? If you give me a run-down of the route on google maps I can run the whole stretch from Arivaca north.

Sorry, meant Goodtimes Brian.

No hurry on the check. Earliest ride would be next weekend. Let me get the route in a kml file and I'll get it to you.

It is a case of a few messing it up for everyone. People on ATV's have cut fences and run cattle to death for fun. There was a time when one could ride from the end of Sierrita Mountain Rd, past Keystone Pk. and out through McGeeville - I did it several times in the 80's - but no more.
That really is sad.

There's problems with people shooting cattle in Redington. It's tough making a living as a rancher and even tougher when you're surrounded by idiots.

Too bad we as a riding community can't offer a win/win agreement for land owners. We could help cleanup the garbage left behind by illegals and trespassers in trade for access and assist with policing illegal access.
