Poke around just a little and you can find a plethora of people that would say the same about other manufacturers.

I have dealt with Lowrance customer service a few times over my 8 years of ownership of Lowrance products. No complaints from me. I shop the features/performance every few months. I've yet to see any other manufacturer that offers the quantity of features/performance for the price as Lowrance. Best value in GPSs as far as I'm concerned.

No, not a troll at all. It is based on my personal experience with three lowrance units (marine) two of which failed in the warranty period. One that was replaced failed again shortly thereafter. Go to www.thehulltruth.com and do a search on Lowrance. Customer service with them and their product quality is not held in high regard.

Based on feature and price they are fantastic while they work. My experience sends me elsewhere. My sincerest hope is that you continue to enjoy their products, that you don't ever need CS, and if you do that your experience is better than mine and many others I know of.

I hope that these units have good turn by turn capability. I cannot find a handheld GPS for sale that has good turn by turn capability. I have heard that the Garmin handhelds will beep at you to remind you about a turn. This is one of the reasons that I have not bought one.

Right now I have 2 Lowrance Iway 100M gps’s. These have started to become very unreliable by loosing satellites. The reason that I like this gps is that I can use it on my motorcycle and car alike. I don’t get the spoken turn by turn on the motorcycle but I really want it in the car. I also like the handhelds because they usually have the ability to use AA batteries. Does anybody know of any good handhelds that have spoken turn by turn capability?

Thank you for your inquiry,

These units are set to begin shipping in June of this year. The only information that has been released is that information that is on our website.

Lowrance Customer Service

I emailed Lowrance last week inquiring about the release of the new Units. The replay I pasted above.
So its been bumped a month to sometime in June. I couldn't get them to feed us anymore information than whats on the web though.

I heard that they are out. Someone buy one and tell me about it. Specifically I want to know about the turn by turn features of the Sierra or Safari. I want a handheld GPS with great spoken turn by turn.

I was in the market but got tired of 1) uncertain ship date and 2) not being able to find any dealers near me who were going to stock it.

I did get a reply yesterday, from Lowrance, saying they are shipping. To my amazement, they could not tell me what dealers in my area were expected to receive any.

Bought a discounted Garmin from Crutchfield...
