Man, that was a shock... Back to your regularly scheduled TOR:

I grew up in Marietta area as well, and currently live between Belpre and Athens on US50. We are very familiar with that foot bridge, it's still there and was a recent tag in the Ohio Tag-O-Rama game (on christmas eve, no less IIRC).

The Becky Thatcher went bankrupt (again) and was sold to a developer in Pittsburgh. It left marietta just a few short months ago, but actually did just sink literally sometime last month near Neville Island in Pittsburgh... so you're timing is pretty much spot on

Small world. When did you live in Mtta? Hell we may be old friends.

Or at least have acquaintances.

Somehow I knew that damn thing musta sunk by now. Did you hear the rumors about the VW size catfish that were supposedly living under that thing?

I lived there from approx. 2000 thru 2004? I think? I blocked a lot of it out... I ran a photography studio on Front St.

And drank a lot.

Yeah, the catfish are legendary but i've never seen one that was longer than a yardstick

We probably crossed paths at some point, if you hung around front st and drank a lot

I actually bounced at The Crowbar for a while on the side, my Landlord owned Marietta Brewing, and I was even known to occasionally brave the Double L. And I can't remember the name of the bar in Harmar that I used to play pool in on Sunday nights...

And, coincidentally, I watched Fear & Loathing very frequently while I lived there...

Crap! I was just across the river near Parkersburg grabbing the WV tag earlier that morning, then riding up Rt 2 along the Ohio River to Weirton. I was within 10-12 miles of it! Too bad I was 10-12 hours too early.

I could have made a pilgrimage to the Sewah Marker Company, maker of the West Virginia Historical Markers.

Oh well.

you guys are killin me, Mtown was my home awayfromhome...
I spent many great times there, and many drunken rides back up to Lower Salem where I had a deer camp on rt 260...

good times drinking at the Barge...in Harmar, the Maple up in town, and even the 4 Seasons (we nicknamed it the 4-diseases...y'all gotta know why if you been there...)

As far as Catfish go, a pal of mine lived off 7th, on the river, and was a fanatic about HUGE catfish, he ended up filming about 50 catches, biggest was over 60 pounds, almost 5 ft, he produced a video which we watched at his house one night, and it was amazing...he went by the pseudonym "Catfish Daddy", and coined the phrase "it don't get any better than fishing on the Muskingham..."

he can be found at the local bars frequently, especially the Maple, just ask the bartender about him....he'll point him out....

man, I miss Ohio......

You know the egg is in Marietta? Sounds like a good enough reason for a MC road trip this weekend. You know remember the old days, have a brew with Catfish daddy, get the NA tag!

I've led a secluded life. I didn't know that Mtta was so well known for it's bar life.

I've never stepped foot in the Harmar or the Norwood or the Time Out or My Place or the Double Smell or the....................

C14 is on the lift right now, partially disassembled and getting ready for a valve adjust and cruise install....besides being a 7-1/2 hour ride there

I kick myself for not grabbing it when it was 45 minutes from my house a couple times last year.....

have fun guys!

What a nice end to my ride from Omaha to Wilkes Barre Pa. Over 1000 miles in 24 hours and the egg as my reward.

I know a nice nest on the pa ny border for it.
