New tag

It was a bit nippy this morning, but Mr. Egg was hot to go.

With something popping up at the office, I don't have time to do what I'd planned, so am placing a quick tag that seems appropriate for the day.

Before going any further, please remember NO POLITICAL COMMENTARY for or against ANYBODY. Make your comment with your...

...vote today.

So the tag below is what the voting is about. This was taken from a bridge you use to drive over rail tracks, as the train is headed straight at the Capitol. Note the sunrise in the triangular building windows for orientation.

Why here out of all DC? Because it's pretty darned hard to find a place to leave something within sight of the Capitol building, AND with the bike in the photo, AND expect to have it there for a day or a week.

Better view of eggzactly where the camo pouch is and of the bridge that the tag photo was taken from:

Easy to Google Map and find with street view before you ever leave your nice warm chair. Hopefully, Mr. Egg can go south before it snows.

Move that egg quick!

I used to work for the company that rebuilt that bridge. The location where the egg is currently located is scheduled to have some work done around it very soon. That empty lot is where our trailers were located and that lot still needs some final grading and topsoil. Unfortunatley, I can't run in and get him because, fortunately, I'm in Cacun right now!

Anyway, tag up quick so Mr. Egg doesn't end up in the bucket of a backhoe

I pass it twice a day, so will keep my eyes open. It's enough of a softball tag that I doubt the egg stays there long.

Long live the egg!!

We need someone to break the rules again. The Tag-O-Rama got reaally eggciting when someone got their panties in a ruffle over someone new to the game not reading the rules and then other's getting all defensive thinking that someone's panties were actually in a ruffle.

Just got done reading this thread from start to finish and wished I was on the East Coast to ruffle some feathers. Great read, keep up the good work, while I enjoy riding in the Southwest almost year around and only dream about a trip comparable to Digiamo or Motomac!!

Egg has been rescued from 12th & D St SW, D.C. and is back in MD.

Grab photos as soon as I get them out of the camera and uploaded.

Damn I hate big cities and their one way frigging streets.

Round and round and round we go....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

After missing the exit off I 395 S, going over the Potomac, driving around the Pentagon, going across Arlington Memorial Bridge, going by the Lincoln Memorial, up Constitution Ave to 12th, figuring out how to go around the Mall and get back on 12th, I finally got to D St SW. I didn't see the tag spot until after I went by it,(D St is a one way street going away from the tag.) I made the left after the tracks and that put me back on I 395 S.

So... after crossing the Potomac again I managed to get on the GW Memorial Pkwy this time, crossed the Memorial Bridge again, went around the other side of the Lincoln Memorial, got on Independence Ave and took a right on 12th. When I got to D St, I couldn't figure out how to get into the construction area. So I kept going straight this time and ended up at a red light on Maine Ave at 9th. I then figured I needed to hang a uby. After surveying the area for cops(u turns in DC are illegal) I decided to go for it. I roll up on the red light at 12th & D, going in the other direction this time, still trying to figure out how I'm going to get in the construction area when I see the ramp in the side walk and I'm in.

If I'd had my chainsaw with me, this would have been a much better photo. The Capitol dome is behind the trees.

Egg is going to spend a few days relaxing at my house.

He'll be placed in a new location Sunday.
New tag should be posted around noon.

And I really do hate big cities!

WayneJ, Have you ever been to the "Old Stein Inn" in Mayo? I'm looking for a good German restaurant to do a "ride to eat".

I used to go in there years ago when it was "Neil's Old Redneck Inn"(that's what us locals called it) and drink beer.

I haven't been there since it became the Old Stein, but I know people that have. They all say the food and the beer is top notch. Highly recommended. It's usually packed. Maybe it's time I check it out. Are you going to post the RTE in the SMIB thread?

I'll pick a day and post in the SMIB thread when I do.

BTW nice grab, who said there are no twistees in the city. You just gotta throw in a couple of on and off ramps.

I haven't driven in DC in over 20 years, never on a bike before and never in SW.

I wasn't lost. I just couldn't get there from there.

Thanks for the note, rlke, but lets not forget George99 and his epic Rules-be-damned run with My Precious down to Belize, and Sunnytn for rescuing it back to Tennessee.

Where in New Mexico? I'm heading down there next week.
If stars align, EGG in hand.

New Tag

I found enough room on Egg for a new tat.

I removed this and a SMIB sticker from the package.

And added an AMA and Twisted Throttle sticker.

New Tag. Maryland's World War II Memorial.

The Egg Drop. From the parking lot you'll see this:

The steps lead to a scenic overlook of the Severn River and the US Naval Academy.

Take note of the top of the monument on the right side of the photo above. This is the monument. This side faces the river.

When viewing the monument from this side there is a small circular sidewalk to the right surrounded by some small shrubs. Here's the circular sidewalk as viewed from the overlook. It is also visible on the left in the first overlook photo. The top corner of the Pearl Harbor Monument is on the right.

inside this circle of bushes are these three monuments.

Egg is behind the one in the center. This one.

The MD WWII Memorial is located approximately 3 miles south of US 50/301 intersection with MD Rt 2(Gov. Ritchie Hwy) in the median of MD Rt 450/Ritchie Hwy.

The small parking lot is closed from dusk till dawn, but the Tag photo and Egg are accessible 24 hours a day. But go there during the day for the view and spend a little time checking out the Memorial.

Thursday November 11 is Veterans Day here in the US. I'd like to thank all the Vets reading this for their service and I'll always remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
