[quote=XRsteve]If your frame is "shasta white" rustoleum white is a pretty good match. I've used it on 1990-1999 bike and you can't see the difference.

Unfortunately, it's a 1998 with a charcol-ish color.

I think we can all agree, the XR250R is no speed demon, but I'm sure we all bought/own one because their awesome for what they do.

Ok I ran out of light tonight installing my Cycra Handguards. I took the throttle (tube) apart to clean out where the tube rolls on the handlebar. I was having a hard time getting part 13 back in place. Its a small white plastic "guide" for the two throttle cables. Can I run the cables without this part? If it matters this is a 2003 XR250R. I want to get it back together tomorrow morining so I can ride.

Thumb Tgif!

First day of Spring, snow is finally melting. Just got back from the first real ride of the season... 50 miles through mud and slush. Gotta love the little XR. Enjoy...

Don't harrass me about the beer . I'm 5 minutes of dirt trails from home. Always bring one along for the end of a great ride

I got the throttle back together this morning. Handguards installed. I'm glad I got them installed because they came in use this afternoon.

I'm jealous of you guys with your 250's. I'd like to find one, I have a 650L but it's just too big and heavy for the woods around here. I'm toying with the idea of buying a 250r or 400r. How does the 250 do for short road jaunts, will it run at 45 or 50mph? I'm not looking for all out power, just a smaller bike I can run around in the woods with, low speed stuff.

That's exactly what I use mine for. Great bike for trail and woods riding and exploring. Also my daily driver in the summer 50-60 is no problem, I hit 65-70 on the freeway.

I run a 14/45 gear,and because its a 6 speed,55-60mph is quite comfy.
I mean when i pop her in 6th and hit a nice mellow rpm maybe 2800-3000rpm,she doing about 55-56mph,per GPS.
The way its geared,i might see 75-80mph max out of her,i go 170lb.
In the tight woods where i ride here in the Northeast,i run in 3rd or 4th gear mostly, which is where i like to be to give me range thru the trails.
First thru thrid its faster then my DR650SE!
Being a 6 speed and only weigh'n a hair over 200lbs it'll do everything but highway without worry. But thats what ya got the XRL for.
The only DS bike i ever had better in the woods was a KDX220R,if that tells anything.
