Did a day of wrenching on all my bikes yesterday. Oil changes, some new plastic bits for the '86 XR250r...And best, a new main jet for the '00 XR250r. My bil bought a 150 main jet for his XR400. The original was a 142. We pulled the carb off my 250 for spring cleaning and he had the bright idea to look at the main jet size. It had a 132 in it. We installed his 142 jet, cleaned things up a bit (not really very dirty at all) and put it all back together. I know NOTHING about jetting carburetors but it really seemed to give the 250 a noticable improvement in low end grunt. The exhaust isn't rich so I think it'll work. Still waiting on seals, bearings, and bushings to install the usd CR forks on the '86 model. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks...I'll take photos when the time comes.

I haven't touched the carb on my '03. It runs great right now I'd hate to fiddle with it. The CR forks are a cool idea. If I can save up some money I want to get my suspension worked on.

I hope everyones been out riding because I sure haven't. I've been busy with school, Search and Rescue, and now I'm starting a job on Friday. I've been riding my bicycle because its easier/faster to get out and ride. If work permits this weekend I might get to head to a local OHV park.

A couple of pictures of mine. Had only managed to start it once since buying it and I was pulling my hair out trying to find out what was wrong. Then it started and rattled horribly and stopped, after searching the web I discovered the well documented auto decompressor problem. Now back together and ready to try again at the weekend

It would appear to be the standard shock, as it has Honda written all over it, looks fairly new though so perhaps a previous owner had it fitted fairly recently.

If you havent already done it, next time you take the top off the engine, disable that fucking auto decompressor. Mine is now like a new bike and is soooo easy to start. Why did Honda fit a device which made starting more difficult? Someone in the factory has an eivil streak I think

Hard to see from the pic.I just saw it was shineie,and you have a Ohlins sticker on the bike.

My XR has a manuel decomp,the way they should be.

Mine being a late model had manual and auto decomp. The manual one had been removed by a previous owner, so I refitted it when I removed the auto one. Had a days offroading at a local farm on saturday, and it started easily every time

noise baffle & spark arrestor

Found this set up to quiet things down. 3" resonator and supertrapp disc kit. Weird thing is that I had to buy the resonator from one distributor and the disc kit from supertrapp. Previous owner had removed the factory baffle leaving a 3" gaping hole big enough for birds to nest in. Resonator jammed in perfectly. I had to extend the threaded rod that came with the disc kit with a piece of 1/4-20 x 12" all thread and a coupling nut and it worked out well. No welds, no holes drilled, the rod managed to hook on something deep inside the pipe. can remove at anytime with a wrench. Nice and quiet, good power with 5 disc but plan to play around with disc number to see how it effects power.\
